Happy Sunday, blog friends—how are you? Here I am to share a bit more about my life. The heat has returned this weekend; I think I’m taking about five showers a day! Even though we would have loved to stay indoors with the air conditioning, we had to go out to run some errands, and last night we even took a little trip—which I’ll tell you about later. Anyway, the heat is still terrible and we’re really struggling with it. Yesterday we got up early—shower, coffee, and then a trip to the laundromat. Unfortunately, our washing machine is still broken, but luckily there’s a cheap laundromat we know nearby. While waiting, I settled in to read, whereas my husband—as you can see in the photos—literally fell asleep; we sleep poorly at night because of the heat, so we’re all drowsy during the day. After the laundromat, we went home briefly for a quick lunch of ready-made pizza (I forgot to take photos this time), and then we headed out again because we had an appointment at the dealership to test drive the car we’re expecting to get—a used Panda. It’s one of the most reliable and affordable Italian cars, which really matters given the price of diesel these days.
¡Feliz domingo, amigos del blog! ¿Cómo están? Aquí estoy para compartirles un poco más sobre mi vida. El calor ha vuelto este fin de semana; ¡creo que me estoy dando unas cinco duchas al día! Aunque nos hubiera encantado quedarnos en casa con el aire acondicionado, tuvimos que salir a hacer algunos recados y anoche incluso hicimos una pequeña escapada, de la que ya les contaré más adelante. En fin, el calor sigue siendo insoportable y nos está costando mucho sobrellevarlo. Ayer nos levantamos temprano: ducha, café y luego fuimos a la lavandería. Por desgracia, nuestra lavadora sigue averiada, pero afortunadamente conocemos una lavandería económica cerca de casa. Mientras esperábamos, me puse a leer, mientras que mi marido —como pueden ver en las fotos— se quedó literalmente dormido; dormimos mal por la noche debido al calor, así que andamos todos aletargados durante el día. Después de la lavandería, volvimos un momento a casa para almorzar algo rápido: una pizza precocinada (esta vez olvidé sacar fotos). Luego volvimos a salir porque teníamos cita en el concesionario para probar el coche que pensamos comprar: un Panda de segunda mano. Es uno de los coches italianos más fiables y económicos, algo muy importante teniendo en cuenta el precio del diésel hoy en día.
We had to wait a bit at the dealership; at first, we stayed outside smoking, but then it got too hot, so we went inside. I absolutely fell in love with a really cute vintage red car—one of those with the unusual gear shift from the seventies, I think—an old Citroën that looked like it had stepped right out of the past. Then we took the Panda for a spin—the light blue one you can see in the last car photo; it seems very easy to drive and, above all, easy to park. The test drive was pleasant, though there are a few things that need fixing, like the steering being a bit stiff and a door that doesn't close properly; still, we should have it at home in a couple of weeks. Once we got back, we settled onto the sofa and enjoyed watching our cats—they’re such silly things, sleeping all over the place. Our black cat cracked me up when she fell asleep inside a half-empty beer crate. Anyway, I’ll say goodbye for now, friends—I’ll tell you about more little adventures soon!
Tuvimos que esperar un poco en el concesionario; al principio nos quedamos fuera fumando, pero luego empezó a hacer demasiado calor, así que entramos. Me enamoré perdidamente de un coche antiguo rojo precioso —uno de esos con la palanca de cambios poco común típica de los años setenta, creo—; era un viejo Citroën que parecía recién salido del pasado. Luego dimos una vuelta con el Panda —el azul claro que se ve en la última foto de los coches—; parece muy fácil de conducir y, sobre todo, fácil de aparcar. La prueba fue agradable, aunque hay algunos detalles que arreglar, como la dirección, que está un poco dura, y una puerta que no cierra bien; aun así, deberíamos tenerlo en casa dentro de un par de semanas. Al volver, nos acomodamos en el sofá y disfrutamos viendo a nuestros gatos; son muy graciosos, durmiendo por cualquier rincón. Nuestra gata negra me hizo mucha gracia cuando se quedó dormida dentro de una caja de cerveza a medio vaciar. En fin, me despido por ahora, amigos; ¡pronto os contaré más pequeñas aventuras!
