Good evening, blog friends—how are you? Here I am again for my Wednesday walk. Luckily, it was a few degrees cooler today, so we headed out to a town we’ve been visiting often lately: Pescia. It’s known as the "town of flowers" because it’s full of florists; in the spring, the whole town becomes an explosion of scents and colors thanks to all the blooms. Pescia is a beautiful Tuscan town with medieval roots and a historic district festival featuring medieval reenactments and themed performances—like flag-throwers. My husband and I saw the festival a few years ago, and it was truly wonderful. Today, we just went back for a stroll; we parked near the town center and wandered aimlessly through the streets—after all, Pescia is lovely everywhere you look. True to its reputation, we came across two flower shops almost immediately. They were stunning, filled with so many beautiful, fresh, colorful flowers. I wanted to buy out the entire shop because the flowers and arrangements were so gorgeous, but I didn't buy a thing. I’m terrible with plants and flowers—they always die on me; I definitely don't have a green thumb! Still, I love looking at and photographing flowers and plants.
We were really impressed by the flower shops, then we went for a walk in the historic center, passing through one of Pescia's four ancient gates—one of the smaller ones whose name I can't recall (unlike the main gate, Porta Fiorentina, named because the road led to Florence). The streets in the center are lovely and full of character, lined with old buildings and houses in shades of orange, red, and yellow—warm colors that lift the spirits and give the town a cozy feel. There are also many charming narrow lanes winding between the quaint, closely packed houses. We took photos of various spots in the city that I found particularly lovely—terraces, windows, and fountains; strolling slowly gives you the chance to notice details you’d miss if you were rushing or driving. Pescia is truly a wonderful city for walking; I plan to go back again next week and hope to find new, charming corners to show you. See you soon!
