The collector in me also enjoys the new editions although given the updated economics, it is more expensive to keep a complete and competitive set ready to go for all the needs of my account. Not even taking the future lands expansion into consideration, I have noticed that there are never too many cards to have in ones collection. In fact, I have still never sold a card since starting over three years ago.
Given the new edition of Chaos Legion, I start to consider how I will build my future collection. Untamed was the first edition that I was able to complete a maximum level set. However, it was expensive since I waited a bit long to complete it. Along the way and since I opened over 3,000 Untamed packs, I gathered a good collection of Gold Foils as well. However, I had been using them for an alt account and then moved to rentals when that became and easier way to accumulate DEC. As I played with them, I noticed how much better they are to win DEC.
With the prize pool now potentially being split between Modern vs Wild (still not sure how the economics will work), I have made the decision to work on the next level of achievement in the game; complete a maxed Gold Foil collection. Not sure if my wallet will be up for it as my early experiment has been about double what I originally thought it would be but that is the plan so far. I may need to omit a full maximum set of Legendaries given their costs but they can still be competitive at level 3. So far, I have completed this collection for the reward cards; but the challenge is yet to come given the amount of incoming new cards.
I am up for the challenge and when I look back, I have never regretted putting any amount into this game. In fact, my regrets are not putting enough in for my Collection. For example, I bought a Gold Foil Lord A for $40 at the lows of the whale card sell off! I can only wish I bought all the other GFLs at those prices! I am surely looking forward to the potential of stacking up a team of Gold Foils against the rest of the community!
