Hello there! saydie@saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

Brackets in Modern was still a new thing. It wasn't even a month since it was implemented, and many players are still likely adjusting to the new system, just like me. But after switching from Champion Bracket to the Diamond Bracket, I may have found the best place where I should compete and where I could earn close to the SPS that I usually earned during the previous system.

In this post, I will share my reasons for staying in the Diamond Bracket.

Similar to the Champion Bracket, the Diamond also uses Max-level cards to compete, but it has a much lower card-level restrictions than the Champion Bracket. That alone gives me access to most of my Epic and Legendary reward cards, which I could not play in the Champion Bracket because they're below the minimum level allowed in the bracket, which, as a result, also nerfs my deck. Because of that, I lost some battles in the Champion Bracket last season, which I knew I could win if I had just my Epic and Legendary reward cards.

Common / Rare / Epic / Legendary

V — Diamond6 / 5 / 4 / 210 / 8 / 6 / 4
VI — Champion8 / 6 / 5 / 310 / 8 / 6 / 4

And compared to the previous season, where I only managed Division 3 of the Champion Bracket, this time I was able to reach Division 1 of the Diamond Bracket with almost 6 days remaining before the end of the season, even after starting from a 0 rating.

In terms of difficulty against liquidity bots, I think that the difficulty of the bots in Division 1 of the Diamond Bracket is around the same as Division 3 of the Champion Bracket. The liquidity bots use the same lineups and have access to all the meta cards. What makes it easier for me to win against them now is that I have more access to my card collection, and I am also starting to learn the liquidity bot's patterns. However, it is also possible that when I reach a much higher rating, I would be faced with more difficult liquidity bots.

Against other humans, their difficulty in the Diamond Bracket is much lower than in the Champion Bracket, because most of the players in the Champion Bracket have most, if not all, of the modern cards. There were also other players in the Diamond Bracket with tons of Modern cards, but perhaps the players in the Diamond Bracket just know how to play their decks better. Even so, I still have one of the weakest decks compared to most of the players in the Diamond Bracket, so there is no way that I am overwhelming the rest of the human players in the Bracket with my card collection.

As for the rewards, I think that I will earn much higher earnings in the Diamond Bracket than in the Champion Bracket. Right now, I am at Rank 9 of the Diamond Bracket, with 1.26% of the reward points. With the max SPS pool of 304,593.75 SPS this season, 1.26% of the reward points should give me 3837.88 SPS, though the amount could still go higher or lower depending on the reward points % that I will have as the season ends, so it is essential that I continue playing and winning most of my remaining battles.

But perhaps, my biggest win for playing in the Diamond Bracket was my Glint reward. As long as I held my position in the top 10 of the Diamond Bracket, I was guaranteed to get 200k Glint, and through playing ranked battles, I already earned 454,265 Glint with still about half of the season remaining, so there's a big chance that I would surpass 600k Glint at the end of the season. Multiply that by two, and I could get more or less 1.2 million Glint, which will be a big boost on my Glint earnings.

Closing

But most of all, I am enjoying my battles more in the Diamond Bracket than in the Champion Bracket because I could play more cards, which is more than enough of a reason for me to stay in the Diamond Bracket. But maybe at some point I would try to compete in the Champion Bracket once again, especially since they will implement an update where players can switch from one bracket to another but do not lose their rating when they go back to their previous Bracket.

Thank you, and see you on the next post!
