This is just how we grow vegetables along the river bank for both personal and commercial purposes.
Most especially the commercial planting purpose because it ensures that our villages have a regular supply of vegetables while we the farmers have some financial proceeds from these.

During the raining seasons, we plant vegetables everywhere since there is abundant of rainfall but dry seasons like this growing these veggies is usually done along the river banks close to where we can water our plants with water from the river.

We are almost done with completing our harvest of the grains and as at today we have just a few percentage of the beans and guinea corn left..

After that we can have enough time to start our own vegetable planting along with others.

Today I needed to make some vegetable soups and that took me to the river bank at Oyun in Ilorin where I live to get some leaves

But I was amazed to see the poor performance of the veggies this year.
I doubt if it is the lower temperature or very hot and sunny days...

You can see that we have very short leaves and plant.

Maybe the mothers here are getting older and weak at hand to monitor the veggies closely.
Since it requires that they have to carry bottles of water on their hand a couple of times to wet these different portions...

Youths aren't involves in this kind of jobs, except for myself and a few others...

Due to poor performance of vegetables we didn't get enough vegetable for soup, and it was very expensive as the farmer wants to make lots of profit from this little growth...

Am yet to figure out why there is a poor performance , hopefully when I start my own portion soon.

The government should employ more youths in the agric sector, provide grants and make agricultural jobs a more lucrative business, that way we can have enough vegetable and food that can be enough or the citizen and we can even think about exportation...

More cultivating machine, pumping machines and spray cans can be bought as such makes farming easy.
When work is easy and attractive that way, more youths will venture into agriculture.
