How satisfied are you with the way your parents have raised you? I mean their parenting methods and how successful they are. Ask yourself, and keep that within yourself. So far, I was really satisfied with mine; recently, a few issues and an incident yesterday really forced me to think about it.
Yesterday when I was coming back to my home, an uncle called me just before I entered my home. A few days ago, he took my bachelor's syllabus; he wanted to see the curriculum. He has four kids; one is already studying for a bachelor's degree, another is going to enter this year, and two more next year.
He gave me a notepad in my hands, revealing that I saw different subjects and their curriculums, different subjects, and different universities. All are sorted out with their differences and pinpoint details.
He first mentioned the ones who are on the pipeline to step in for the bachelor's degree, and then he mentioned the need for the parents to better understand what they will be studying, the complexity of those subjects, the demand of that degree, future opportunities, and that's why he has been collecting this information to have a better understanding. He collected the curriculums and made comparison charts, highlighted the differences, and noted down the merits and demerits of that subject and institute. The more he was explaining, the more I was getting speechless. He kept on talking on and on for almost one hour. He really did hard work while making those statistics of his own.
I know he can't predict or understand everything completely; there are always a few things that can only be explored after a practical deep dive. Still, he is doing his best from his position to make a few things smoother. I was amazed to see how closely he has been trying to monitor his elder son's activities to keep him on track and his academic progress; he has also noted how many marks he has been achieving per subject, what the questions are, and how they are. Everything is just like every parent does when their kid is in school but he is still the same concerned even after they have grown up. It may be a little bit extra, but he is doing his best to bring out the best of them and let them shine in life.
Don't you think these concerns and consciousnesses are a part of good parenting? Yes, they are. I, myself, felt the lack of this particular portion, and I can feel the missing piece of the puzzle that was not achieved because everyone is not like him; most parents don't go deep like that. Sometimes it seems over-possessiveness, but in most cases, they sound legit.
After talking with my uncle, seeing his interest and dedication to his kids really impressed me, his thoughts and opinion were really priceless. May his kids have a better future ahead just like the one he is dreaming of.
