May 1st was International Workers' day and a national holiday in Norway. It was pouring down outside and I didn't really feel like going out at all. I knew I should take advantage of the day though, as the next days would be too busy to squeeze a run in. I texted a couple of people I sometimes run with, and luckily one of them wanted to join me. It's a lot easier getting out when there is someone waiting for you. The route we usually run together is in the most shady woods and still partly covered in snow, so we decided to take another and longer route that I hadn't run for a while. It was a good run, but it was too wet for me to bring my phone so I didn't take any pictures. I want to show you the nice dirt trail though, so here is a picture from a sunny day. Can you see why I to run here? It is used for skiing in the winter so hence the road lights:
I am not the fastest of runners, so when I managed to get my first Strava crown on this run I was very happy. There were only like 25 women in total ever on that segment, but who cares, a crown is a crown. I don't chase crowns or particular segments on my runs, I just run where I feel like running, but it is still fun to PR on segments I run often. When I'm in a new place I often check which segments are nearby. I figure that if there's a segment then it should be a place suited for a run, and so far that has been true for me.
Have you ever gotten Strava crowns?
Here is the Strava stats, and below a video of the run.
