Description from Strava:
I follow a number of people on the Strava app. Some of these are people I know in real life from school or work, some from social media (including some of the very small running community on Hive). There are several people who I follow on youtube, and so I follow these on strava too. Most of these people are there to povide inspiation, either inspiring me to go faster or run longer, or to enter challenging races. Sometimes it just helps when I'm sat inside watching the rain, and seeing someone else has already completed their run, motivates me to get out and get my run done.
There is a small group of people who I follow on strava, who I barely know. They are all local people, but the most I've ever said to them is a 'hello' as I run past them, or sometimes it is just a wave. I follow these local runners, because they can show me different places to run, along paths I didn't know existed.
And it was one of these locals that went for a run yesterday...
The route heads down a small back road (adjacent to the A15), turns right on an even smaller back road towards Coleby, and the heads back up the A607 towards Bracebridge Heath.
I've seen a number of local runners do this route (or a route v. similar to this) but I've never tried it until now. Looks to be a relatively simple route, and a useful distance too at just over 13 miles (1/2 Marathon)
I did need to amend the route slightly as I live in a different part of the village to him, and I wanted to make sure I got the distance required.
After a lazy morning, I eventually set of just after 11am. It had been cool first thing this morning, but by 11 it had already started to warm up in the sunshine. I crossed the bridge over the bypass, and headed South down Bloxholme Lane. I had a sneaking suspicion that there was no path to run on, and that I would have to run on the side of the road, and I was right.
Fortunately, the small back roads are really quiet, especially on a Sunday morning, so there wasn't a great deal of traffic to watch out for. Even so, I opted to run with out music, to make sure I was aware of my surroundings
The views were nice enough as I head was heading out into the countryside... surrounded by farms and fields
After 4 miles or so, I reached a crossroads and took a right (heading west) towards Coleby. The road became even smaller, and but there was a least a grass verge to run on when traffic was around (it helped that the ground was so hard still due to the dry weather)
After a further 3 miles, I reached Coleby, and ran back up the A607 towards home. There was a path here so I was able to relax a little and settle into the run. Once I made it back into the village, I needed to loop around the housing estates to top up my distance to the 13.1 miles needed...
...and then I arrived home.
It was a nice little route, I don't know why I put it off for so long, but I'm pleased I finally did it today... will be added into my routes for future runs :-)

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)
