Description from Strava:
We have been up north again, so of course I went for a run. I do not often get to run by the sea. I have run around Newbiggin before and may have done a similar route.
I ran along the front on a nice morning. This is part of their parkrun course that includes a 'slight incline'. I ran up that today to pick up the coast path. That was a bit uneven in places. Passing the holiday park the path was practically gone for a short stretch. I hung into the fence as I made my way across. It is not a huge drop, but I did not want to fall down it.
I crossed party of the estuary that was a little soft underfoot. My shoes sank a bit. To get up to the road I had to cross the river on a footbridge and then take the steps up to the road bridge to cross again. There was a fair bit of climbing on this route.
I followed the road back. At the big roundabout I had to take the long way around for the safe crossing places as it gets busy.
Then I just ran back into town and that road goes up and down. I was pretty warm when I got back. We went for breakfast at the Needle's Eye cafe on the promenade. They do a good veggie fry-up.
It was generally cooler than at home and that was quite welcome. It was still nice when out and about. It is a nice part of the country.
Have a great week and run free.
