Tenemos derecho a decir "NO"

Have you ever thought that we always aspire to change in some situations, but we continue to implement the same formulas, actions and responses to them?

We want a better job, a partner who treats us differently, better behaved children, but we do not ask ourselves, and what am I changing to achieve it?

just_think.png

We tend to look for solutions outside of ourselves, when the answer lies within, because by changing our attitude towards things, the rest will flow either for the better or to remove from your path that which hinders what you are aspiring to achieve.

Even I myself fall from time to time in the comfort that others are the ones who change for my benefit, when really the one who should act is the one who wants the change, in this case it would be myself.

There are no secret formulas

Whoever claims to have the way to happiness, fulfillment, wealth or any of the things we desire, is a creator of illusions.

Each one of us must formulate the solution to our conflicts and seek, within our possibilities and knowledge, the way to get ahead.

But if we fall into routine or habits, some of them harmful, we will always get the same answer.

despertar_ingles.png

It is enough to do the test by changing something of what we usually do: if we get up half an hour earlier than usual, we will probably feel that the time yielded us more during that day.

If we stop drinking artificial beverages or change them for natural drinks or water, our body will also feel different.

The same happens on the opposite side, when we acquire bad habits or make bad decisions, we will have to assume the consequences sooner or later.

And these examples are usually taken into account by the majority, consciously or unconsciously, and in the case of the positive ones, we feel joy when we see how they benefit us.

But the question is, to what extent are we able to implement them? Why is it that if we verify their effectiveness, we are not able to adapt them to all aspects of our lives?

Fear of change

When the changes we require involve feelings and thoughts, it is much more difficult to generate ideas that allow us to get out of stagnation.

Our reptilian brain is so accustomed to routines that it prefers familiar pain to another experience, which may be good, but represents a threat due to the simple ignorance of what such a change will bring.

Likewise, doing something that we know will be painful in principle, stops us from taking radical measures that in the medium or long term will be beneficial for us.

Changing habits involves a good dose of discipline and a touch of self-love. Starting to exercise, changing the menu and eating healthier are classic examples of this.

disciplina.png

But self-esteem has to do not only with the external aspect. Saying no, assertively, is so complex for us, because the tendency is mostly towards submission or aggressiveness.

We have the right to say "NO".

I have always thought that this word implies refusing the good, but the reality is that depending on how it is used, it can be beneficial.

And it goes beyond the "feminist" slogan of "My Body, My Decision" that is widely used in Argentina. These do not have to do with stopping or eliminating from my existence, everything that makes me bad.

Friendships, family, jobs, or any situation that is capable of putting us in a bad mood continuously, should be put at a distance or eliminated completely.

We must think that our well-being must come before what others think, and that implies that we must not be held back by the feeling or the thought that our assertive decisions have to be a cause of pain for others!

walk_back.png

Refusing to follow the same pattern, for the simple fact of giving continuity to a familiar event, is not a mortal sin. Breaking with the karmas that we carry from generation to generation makes us evolve!

A "NO" said in time, could save us from a major drama. Just as when we say it to children to keep them away from a dangerous situation, we must begin to implement it for ourselves, regardless of age.

It is difficult, of course it is, but we can start with small achievements, to build up our confidence to face the bigger challenges.

Temptation will always be there, but success in this journey will depend on our firmness to achieve the changes.

Define the changes you want to achieve, classify them in order of priority, and after that, make a list of the actions you consider you must implement to achieve the change.

This way, breaking down each one of your desires will help you to advance with firm steps until you achieve what you want.

Once you get into a routine, you will find it easier to sit down and think with a cool head what to do in a situation that brings you to a crossroads.

crossroad.png

And when you feel that things are not going the way you plan them, before being left with the feeling of frustration, analyze what you are doing and which of those things depend on you directly, so that you can modify them in your favor.

Creating our day to day is not a job that we should leave to chance, but it is the action that we must perform with more care, because no one else can take charge of our future.

Being at peace with our decisions, we will have the peace of mind of knowing that we are on the right path, and that sooner rather than later, we will enjoy the things we long for, but not as a dream, but as a tangible reality.
