Greeting Readers!

This week has been bleh. I've been ill again, the second time in six weeks, and I am so over this flu! Other than that, one work project has wrapped up and I am gearing up to do the next.

Today's update is a little short, but the overall piece it is from was just too long for me to put it all here, so please enjoy!

The next thing he knew he slammed into the ground and the air was knocked from his lungs, as if he had fallen from a height. The fall had caused him to momentarily close his eyes. Once they snapped open, he found himself on a different planet. Furious, he tried to teleport back to Kaiden. However, it took him several minutes to figure out that he couldn’t sense her. She was gone. He had screamed at the universe. Cursed Kaiden for what she had done. He had thought that she had sent him to the other side of the galaxy, but it would be a few days later that he discovered it wasn’t his location that had changed but rather his time.

He had raged for days, unable to deal with the fact that she had saved his life but, in turn, was left to face the death of their universe alone. He had lost another family, and his emotions and mind were stretched to breaking. He didn’t want to live anymore. Everything was gone, and he had nothing left to give anymore.

He likely would have succeeded in ending his own life if one of his Guard hadn’t found him on the planet he had been dumped on. The man, someone who had joined the ranks of his Guard a mere few days before they were sent here, had done everything in his power to keep Bolx alive, despite the Saith not wanting to. Bolx had argued with him, stopped eating, and tried every method he could to end his existence, but the man refused to budge.

The Saith, named Trakus, didn’t have the strength of the general, but he was good at gathering information. He had quickly figured out what had happened and had hunted all his brethren, as they had all arrived at different times. Trakus finally managed to break him from his depression by saying, “General, she is still alive here.”

His words hit like a ton of bricks. Of course, she could still exist. He found himself hyperventilating, thinking of what had happened to his wife. Trakus would have none of it. He backhanded Bolx and then gave him a swift kick before pulling the General to his feet.

“Snap out of it! We all lost someone!”

Bolx’s fury erupted, and he wanted to scream at the man, but the Saith threw him down on the ground and then pointed a finger in his face.

“Get over it, General. We need you. This universe needs you!”

He broke then. The pain from the sobs was so painful he could barely keep what mental faculties he had left in check. Trakus had allowed him this time of grieving but quickly pulled him to his feet.

“I understand your feelings and loss. I do, but we can’t drag our feet. The humans and the Saith are at war with each other because Saita was kidnapped by a Dekai.”

Bolx was confused at first and Trakus picked up on it. He indicated that he wanted the General to follow him to where his craft was waiting. There were a few other Guard with him, each had their own haunted looks but they all saluted Bolx as he stepped aboard.

“You’ve been here a while.” Said Bolx hollowly.

“Several months, enough to know what is going on in this time.”

Bolx shook his head, it was aching, and he wasn’t sure if it was because of the attempts on his life or his breakdown.

“We all arrived at different times. I was the first and you were the last. It took me some time trying to find you and I’m glad I arrived when I did. We need you.”

Those on the ship all nodded their heads. One stepped forward and offered him something to drink. Not having eaten in some time, it was all Bolx could stomach.

“We have all been there, General. We gave you as much space as we could, but we couldn’t let you go. Forgive us.” Whispered the women as she pressed the warm drink in his hand.

She refused to leave his side until he had sipped at the contents. It brought warmth back to his body. Once it was obvious he was going to finish his meal, the woman sat back down, watching him with concern.

“From what I gather, we’re roughly seven years in the past but not within our own timeline.” Said Trakus as he sat down. “There are twenty of us and you.”

“We travelled that much time?” Bolx was still coming out of the haze of grief and thought he had misheard.

“From what I gathered, it was Edzeeker’s ability, and since Kaiden was a mimic when she saw him fleeing our timeline, she was able to copy the ability to use on us.”

Hearing her name was enough to cause his chest to tighten. He couldn’t believe what she had done. She should have come through with him. Why had she sacrificed herself? He knew the answer but had been in denial about it. She had the Wasting Disease and didn’t want it spreading to them.

He rubbed the gathered tears from his eyes. Trying to wrap his mind around what he was hearing. It made sense, but he couldn’t believe it.

“Seven years?”

“From what I can gather.” Said Trakus. “That isn’t all. When I first arrived, I went straight into hiding and gathered as much information as possible. I tried to determine the differences between this time and ours. They were numerous, and in time I managed to find all of us that were together on the fateful day.”

The pain was still fresh for Bolx, but he could see many of those who surrounded him had already dealt with the trauma. Some more than others. He took a few deep breaths, his training kicking in.

“What did you learn?”

“We’re all dead in this time.” Trakus said.

Bolx didn’t know how to deal with that information, so stowed it in the furthest part of his mind.

“Saasha’s on the throne.”

“What?” Bolx couldn’t believe it. Saasha was alive in this time. He had never known his older sister long before she had died, but he remembered her fondly. Her smile was something he often missed about her.

“But Brucel is dead. He was killed in an invasion on the planet that saw most of the Royal Guard tortured and murdered. Saasha barely managed to survive. They are allies with the Kai and Dekai.”

A hatred that Bolx didn’t expect exploded in his chest when he heard the word, Dekai. He took a few deep breaths and indicated that Trakus continued.

“The Kai were attacked by the humans about a year ago and the Saith stepped in to help. Most of our counterparts in this time fell in the initial attacks.”

“But why are the humans attacking?”

Trakus frowned and said, “The humans claim that their princess was kidnapped by one of their kind. However, with some snooping, I discovered it was actually a Dekai that took her.”

“This Saita you mentioned?”

Bolx saw how the various crew members were looking at each other before they fixed their gaze on him. Trakus took a deep breath before he said, “Saita is Kaiden, Bolx.”

The next update will be the last of Bolx's history. See you all on Tuesday!
