With the taste of imaginary muffins upon her tongue, Jenny leapt up from the water that gushed down the footpath and ran towards the road.
Chocolate. Vanilla. Blackberry. Apple and cinnamon. They would all be hers. She'd spare no expense! She would buy every muffin on the bakery shelves and devour them all in front of the bakers. They would stare in awe at her dedication to the muffin. They would revel and party. They would bake more. She would become Muffin Goddess!
"Uh, Jenny..."
She would ignore all who dared encroach upon her muffin glory.
"Jennyyyyyyy..."
Especially he, the most vile of muffin vanquishers. Joey. He had ruined her breakfast for the last time.
"JENNY!"
Jenny ran out onto the road and infront of the car that just sat there, the driver's face filled with terror at the idea of passing through a mere centimetre of water, and strode through the water with a smirk upon her face, a smirk that quickly transformed into shock as with the next footfall there was nothing to bear the burden of her step.
"Aiiieeeeeeeeeeeee!" Jenny shrieked as she stumbled face first into the road.
"I was trying to tell you," Joey yelled down at her. "The road's cracked. Cracking. Got a hole in it. Why'd you think the car stopped?"
Jenny leapt to her feet -- again... this was getting ridiculous -- and side-stepped grumpily around the crack in the road. The crack that was somehow widening as she walked around it. This was going to be one of those days, wasn't it?
It already was... wasn't it?
