Joey grabbed Jenny's wrist and pulled her up the hill.
"Come on! We have to turn off the hose before downtown is completely under!"
"Joey, it's just a hose. This water has to be coming from somewhere else."
He ignored her and kept on moving up the hill.
"Joeeeeeeey." Jenny screeched, planting her heels against the footpath in a futile attempt to stop moving. "Unless you're dragging me towards my breakfast muffins, unhand me."
"Look at this traffic! It's far too busy. You're not getting breakfast muffins unless you make them yourself."
"Now that's an idea." Jenny rolled her eyes and went limp, allowing herself to be dragged up the hill. "Except, you know, I don't have any ingredients. Since, you know, someone set a fire in the kitchen and someone used all the flour to put it out."
"I-"
"And someone nearly blew up the kitchen in the process!" Jenny interrupted, then shrieked as the water trickling over the hill transformed into a violent gush and swept her from Joey's grasp and onto her butt with a splash.
Joey shook his head in mock sadness.
"That wouldn't have happened if you just walked with me to turn off the hose."
Normally Jenny would've found a retort upon her tongue, instead she stared at the bottom of the hill where traffic zoomed every which way. A car had actually stopped. She could see the driver even from this distance, boggle-eyed as the gushing water approached the road. This 'flood' was a boon -- a boon!
This was her chance to cross the damned road and get to the bakery. This was it. She could taste those delectable muffins already.
