Laura came late to work having waited for hours to catch a cab. The strike by the cab drivers within her vicinity over high and double taxation by the municipal council took her unawares. She would have made an alternative arrangement to ensure she does not report to work late.
Many staff who come late to work usually tip the secretary to turn blind eyes to their lateness. Even her best friend Kate advised she to do same so as to avoid facing some disciplinary actions by the management
Laura finds that to be against her morals and belief. She did not only refuse to tip the secretary but went ahead to send an sms to the head of personnel explaining in details what actually made her to come late to work.
When the head of personnel read the sms she called Laura and during their discourse she praised her for having the courage to own up and accept her lateness to work. This was what most people don't even do.
When Kate heard it she was surprised that no punishment was dished out to Laura for that too was against the rules of the organization.
