A greeting to my friends who love #beer
Yesterday I was celebrating my friend Lulú's birthday and although there was red wine, the summer heat suggested a beer to us. Right next to us was one of the so-called MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) that, with the new import regulations, have brought products unknown to Cubans.
Used to Cristal, Bucanero, Babaria, and Holanda, another brand makes us suspicious. The one we bought is called Mayoc; the metal can said "Made in Mexico," but when looking for references, there is very little information and it says it's also produced in Spain.
Its presentation is very similar to Cristal, a vibrant green, and it reads Lager Beer Mayoc at 5% Alc./Vol., which made me understand why it had an effect so quickly. Cuban-produced beers are generally 4.5% Alc./Vol. and are usually strong.
When poured, a white, dense foam emerged, just how we like it. It wasn't a pale yellow but a golden color, and upon looking into it, I found that under this brand they also sell malt beverages.
The aroma was fresh, with a touch of sweet malt. I liked it a lot because despite being strong, it is very pleasant to drink. After finishing these first ones, we went for more.
The shop assistant told me that Moyoc Beer is born from a blend of brewing tradition and a modern touch because it emerged from craft brewing. We Cubans are often swayed by first impressions, and if the presentation and flavor were pleasant, there was nothing left to do but enjoy.
In Cuba, celebrations are synonymous with joy, music, and, above all, good drinks. This time was no exception: the colors of the fruit cocktail shone on the table, while red wine and whiskey were passed from hand to hand, accompanied by sweet treats.
But, as always, the queen of the night was the beer, frothy and fresh, spilling drops and causing laughter among the guests. Every sip was a toast to life, to friendship, and to that tradition that unites us. Because in Cuba, no matter how much variety there is, a party is not a party without its ice-cold beer.
At every gathering, beer flows as a symbol of camaraderie; it is a cultural element. More than a drink, it is tradition. It accompanies celebrations, mitigates the heat, and strengthens relationships between strangers.
Nothing equals the delight of an ice-cold beer. The cold counteracts the warm atmosphere, and every gulp is a relief, a small pleasure that celebrates life.
We usually drink straight from the bottle after washing it, but this time it was worth seeing the foam and the golden color of Mayoc beer through the glass.
