Times to move forward
A hug to my friends at @BeEntrepebeur and everyone on the Blockchain.
I've taken a while to write; many issues threaten the stability of Cubans, especially the lack of electricity and connectivity.
It's easier to create when we have balance and a favorable environment, but those details seem to be taking their time in our society. Therefore, there is no alternative but to believe in ourselves and rebuild what is possible. Baking has captivated me more than I thought. Each order gets my adrenaline flowing and awakens the desire to do something new. Each cake is a challenge, a goal towards growth. Thus, what is lacking makes us step out of our comfort zone and forces us to create with different products.
Then I discover that limitation is not a wall, but a shortcut to inventiveness. When time is short, I learn to trust my intuition, my inspiration; when the mold isn't right, I improvise with what I have and the result surprises me.
Baking also entails life philosophies; it has given me back a lesson that adult life had buried: error is not failure, it is information. A meringue that won't whip teaches me about the humidity in the air; burnt caramel reveals the exact point where I should stop it.
Every disaster in the kitchen brings me closer to mastery, because there is no recipe that accounts for all the variables of any given day. You have to experiment, create.
Furthermore, this craft has something of therapy to it. While I whisk, knead, or decorate, my mind quiets down. External problems become small. A client's order is not an obligation, it is a vote of confidence that drives me to surpass my own records; they are challenges.
And in that total dedication, time distorts: hours pass like minutes, and physical fatigue turns into full satisfaction. I think that's why I remain in love with baking, because each finished cake is a piece of me that saves itself from the chaos.
If the outside world doesn't offer stability, I make my own in my kitchen. Even without electricity, I need my hands to still remember the way. In the end, what I build is not just a dessert, it's a declaration that, in the face of scarcity, the heart always finds a way to sweeten the present.
Creating with one's own inspiration is an act of balance. It's not about waiting for a celestial muse, but about digging into the subsoil of our own experience, where memories, emotions, and obsessions that are unique to us lie. That initial spark is not born from imitating others, but from paying attention to what moves us without apparent explanation and putting our own stamp on it.
It is an organic and often messy process. By trusting our intuition, the work becomes an intimate dialogue with ourselves. It is a mirror that reflects not only what we see, but what we long for or fear. Thus, the work is charged with authenticity, because it is born from an internal need, not from a market demand.
However, this inspiration is not egocentric; it is a bridge that connects our interior with the world. By sharing what we have created from our center, we offer a piece of humanity that others can recognize.
Because what is deeply important, when expressed honestly, becomes universal. Creating from oneself is, definitively, the only way to leave a mark, with one's own voice.
