Hi, I haven't been posting my cooking for some time though I have resumed cooking for quite a bit. So today since I made an unexpectedly delicious Mapo Tofu, let me document it!
Mapo Tofu
How many of you know this dish? This is a very good dish to eat with rice or even noodles.
My husband sometimes will look out for this dish so this day, I decided to cook his favorite dish though it is often a dish I may not remember up my sleeve.
The ingredients for this dish is rather simple:
馃嵔 one block of smooth tofu
馃嵔 minced meat (here I used minced pork)
馃嵔 sesame oil
馃嵔 oyster sauce
馃嵔 light soy sauce
馃嵔 corn starch
馃嵔 spring onions or scallions
馃嵔 Gochujang paste
馃嵔 shallots
How to make it?
Firstly, I mixed together the sauce in a bowl. I mixed oyster sauce, light soy sauce, white pepper, Gochujang paste and sesame oil together. I stirred them together.
Next, chop up some shallots.
Heat up some oil and fry up the shallots until they turn translucent.
After that, brown the minced pork.
When the pork is cooked, now it is time to pour in the mixed sauce.
Add in a little water into the same bowl and add that in too.
Mix a teaspoon of corn starch with some water and mix it well before pour into the pan as well.
Chop up some scallions to add some greens to the dish.
Now carefully remove the block of tofu from the box and cut it into squares.
Carefully add the tofu in and avoid stirring to break up the tofu too much.
Just gently coat the tofu with the gravy like this.
It is done! Just garnish with some scallions.
Stir-fried Bok Choy
This dish only requires some shallots and washed bok choy. Simple dish!
Fry the shallots in the oil first.
Add in the bok choy.
Season up with some salt or oyster sauce.
You can add some fried garlic chips on top of it after it is done.
