Last weekend was my grandmother Josefa’s birthday. She turned 88 years old. When she was younger, my grandmother loved making a small cake and inviting the whole family to celebrate her birthday. However, as she got older, these things became less enjoyable because of her health problems and loss of vision. Even so, my grandmother is still a very loved person in our family and a great example of faith.

This year, we decided to surprise her again. We invited some family members to sing Happy Birthday and spend some time with her. My grandmother was not feeling very well because she had a herpes zoster outbreak on her face. I know very well how it feels because I had it last year too, but in my case it was around my ribs and less severe because I was diagnosed very early. It was terrible, so I can imagine how difficult it must be to have it on the face.

Even so, we could see that Grandma Ju was happy to celebrate her birthday. We also gave her a special “grandma’s cup” as a gift. It was a simple present, but it was very special.

It was really nice to be together with the family and celebrate another year of our dear Grandma Ju’s life. ❤️

Esse final de semana que passou foi aniversário da minha avó Josefa, que completou 88 anos. Quando era mais jovem, minha avó tinha o prazer de fazer um bolinho e chamar toda a família para comemorar seu aniversário. Porém, com a idade, tudo isso foi perdendo a graça por causa dos problemas de saúde e da perda da visão. Mesmo assim, minha avó continua sendo uma pessoa muito querida por todos e um grande exemplo de fé.

Este ano, resolvemos fazer mais uma surpresa para nossa avó. Chamamos alguns membros da família para cantar os parabéns e passar um tempinho com ela. E nossa avó não estava muito bem, pois teve uma crise de herpes-zóster bem no rosto. Eu sei muito bem como é, porque também passei por isso no ano passado, mas no meu caso foi na região das costelas e com menor intensidade, pois tive o diagnóstico bem cedo. Foi terrível, então imagino como deve ser ainda pior quando acontece no rosto.

Mesmo assim, deu para perceber que a Vó Ju estava feliz com seu aniversário. Também demos a ela uma "xícara da vovó", que acabou sendo um presente simples, mas muito especial.

Foi muito bom poder estar em família e comemorar mais um ano de vida da nossa querida Vó Ju.
