“Well, of course when Goody wasn't Goody yet and was owned by those other terrible people who Capt. Ludlow had to dogwalk straight out of the picture, he was like every other dog, so, bared teeth meant he was scared enough to fight you, but now since he has been here, Goody is just smiling.”

Eight-year-old Gracie Trent was explaining to her father's mother, Gladys Jubilee Trent, about how she had gotten Goody since the dog's owners had ever dared come back for the dog after running up on the Ludlows with some foolishness and finding out that –

“Yep, Robert Edward Ludlow Sr. is a man after my own heart, or I should say, out of the Lee branch of warriors using the gift right,” Mrs. Jubilee Trent said. “When a man stands up for what is right, he blesses all around, including deliverance of a dog into a smiling face matching his happy tail.”

“Yep, and see, this is why I get Edwina although she still needs to drink more holy water, because that's too much to be dealing with at eight years old when there are adults that do these things,” Gracie said.

“Yes, she also has her great-great-grandmother Hilda Lee's warrior spirit,” Mrs. Jubilee Trent said, “but you're right, Gracie, that it is OK for y'all to just be safe and cute at your ages.”

“I'm waiting for Edwina to get the Goody anointing,” Gracie said, at which point Gracie's mother, Mrs. Melissa Trent, who was just coming to bring some lemonade, had to retreat, laughing uncontrollably. “I'm waiting for the Spirit to get it through to her, like He has to Goody, that's she's safe and she also can have a smiling face to go with her always fashionably dressed tail.”

That got Gracie's father, Sgt. Vincent Trent, who had come to see why his wife was running with a pitcher of lemonade – he too was vanquished in laughing!

“Well,” Mrs. Jubilee Trent said calmly, “people go through different things and God works with them in good time, but He be steady workin', baby. We ain't gotta ever worry about that. We just keep praying, and giving people bottles of water to help them calm down while He works.”

“Ain't it the truth Grandma, ain't it the truth.”
