ONUNU

IMG_20171227_114114.jpg

Hello steemians, it's Christmas season so I went home to spend time with my family and look what my mum made "onunu"

ONUNU is a delicacy from Rivers state which happens to be my state in Nigeria.

ONUNU is just like the popular pounded yam but a bit different because of the ingredients use

WHAT IS NEEDED TO MAKE ONUNU

  • YAM

  • PLAINTIAN

  • PLAM OIL

HOW TO PREPARE

  • Boil the yam, when it is half done adds the plantain to it and boil together.

  • after 5-10 mins remove it from fire and start pounding

You should pound the yam first because of its stretchy and pulp nature.

  • Add the plantain once the yam is smooth enough and then pound together

  • While pounding both the yam and plantain, add the Palm oil.

And food is ready, it is mostly served with our native catfish pepper soup like in the photo above.
