🌅 Always Dawn Comes | Anime Illustration Created in Manga Studio EX 4 and Retouched in Photoshop

Hello everyone! 👋

Today I'd like to share an illustration titled "Always Dawn Comes"—a piece that aims to convey calm, hope, and renewal. We all go through difficult or uncertain moments, but inevitably, a new opportunity arrives to start fresh. That idea was the main inspiration behind this artwork.

I created this illustration primarily in Manga Studio EX 4, handling everything from the initial sketch through advanced coloring. Then I brought it into Photoshop for final lighting and color adjustments to achieve the warm atmosphere I envisioned.

🖌️ Step 1: Initial Sketch

I started with a simple sketch in blue lines, focusing solely on composition, facial angle, expression, and character pose. At this stage, I skip details entirely—the goal is capturing the core idea and establishing a solid foundation.

✏️ Step 2: Base Line Art

Next, I created intermediate line art in red. This stage bridges the rough sketch and final drawing, allowing me to correct proportions, refine facial structure, and define the character's main shapes more accurately.

✒️ Step 3: Detailed Line Art

With the structure in place, I moved on to the final line art, adding all essential details: hair, facial features, clothing, and personality elements. I kept the lines clean and expressive for a polished, professional look.

🎨 Step 4: Base Colors

After completing the line art, I separated elements into layers and assigned base colors to the character, clothing, and background—establishing the color palette without shadows or complex effects.

🌗 Step 5: Shadows, Lighting, and Details

With base colors down, I added shadows for volume and depth, plus lighting effects and details throughout the character and environment. This crucial stage is where the illustration truly comes alive and develops its atmosphere.

✨ Step 6: Final Retouching in Photoshop

I exported to Photoshop for finishing touches, refining the overall lighting, improving contrast, and adjusting the color palette to enhance the warm sunset feeling. These subtle edits unified the piece and gave it a polished final appearance.

🌅 Final Result

"Always Dawn Comes" represents the hope that emerges even after our darkest moments. I wanted to capture that peace we feel when we realize each new day brings another chance to move forward.
