Resumen: dibujando ojos.
Hello, this is my summary blog about my study of the human eye, a study that took me about 8 sessions and one extra in my sketchbook where I drew eyes using portraits of real people as references. The conclusion is very simple: without a doubt, practice makes perfect, and progress is slow but present; you can see it better when you have all the results from all the days of practice next to each other. That's why today I'm sharing one page for each day of drawing eyes so you can more easily see my successes, mistakes, and areas for improvement. I'll be sharing them from the oldest to the most recent. I hope you enjoy this blog.
Hola, este es mi blog resumen sobre mi estudio del ojo humano, un estudio que me tomó unas 8 sesiones y una extra en mi sketchbook donde dibujé ojos utilizando como referencia retratos de personas reales. La conclusión es muy sencilla: sin dudas, la práctica hace al maestro y los avances son lentos pero están presentes; los puedes ver mejor cuando tienes todos los resultados de todos los días de práctica uno junto al otro. Por eso hoy les comparto una hoja por cada día dibujando ojos para que puedan ver más fácilmente mis aciertos, errores y áreas de mejora. Las estaré compartiendo desde la más antigua a la más reciente. Espero que disfruten este blog.
Day one laid the foundations for the following days. Here I was drawing with a pencil, a ballpoint pen, and colored pencils; I learned about the shape of the eye, its parts, and how the two eyes behave together on the face, the difference between the eyelids, and some proportions. The style remains simple and almost schematic, centered more on parts and proportions than on seeking realism.
El día uno sentó las bases para los siguientes días. Aquí estuve dibujando con un lápiz, un bolígrafo y lápices de colores; aprendí sobre la forma del ojo, sus partes y cómo se comportan los dos ojos juntos en el rostro, la diferencia entre los párpados y algunas proporciones. El estilo se mantiene simple y casi esquemático, centrado más en partes y proporciones que en buscar el realismo.
For the second day it was time to put into practice everything learned on the first. I drew several pages full of eyes and eyebrows, and although I was trying to achieve something more realistic, I wasn't getting it. Even so, I kept drawing and understanding how the different parts of the human eye behave.
Para el segundo día tocó poner en práctica todo lo aprendido en el primero. Dibujé varias páginas llenas de ojos y cejas, y aunque intentaba lograr algo más realista, no lo conseguía. Aun así, continué dibujando y comprendiendo cómo se comportan las distintas partes del ojo humano.
On the third day I began doing eye movements, to manage to change the gazes' position. Here, working with the different positions and imagining the eye as a sphere capable of rotating helped me get better results and get a little closer to my final goal.
En el tercer día comencé a hacer movimientos del ojo, para lograr cambiar las miradas de posición. Aquí, trabajar con las distintas posiciones e imaginando el ojo como una esfera capaz de rotarse me ayudó a tener mejores resultados y acercarme un poco más a mi objetivo final.
Day 4 was where I noticed the progress best; I controlled better what I was doing and could capture the human eye more easily. Even so, some positions could really get complicated for me, especially eyes on 3/4 faces or difficult face angles. But the pages from this day are without a doubt among my favorites.
El día 4 fue donde mejor noté el avance; controlaba mejor lo que hacía y podía plasmar con mayor facilidad el ojo humano. Aun así, algunas posiciones en verdad se me podían complicar, sobre todo los ojos sobre rostros en 3/4 o ángulos difíciles del rostro. Pero las páginas de este día sin dudas son de mis favoritas.
We continue with another page where I was making an effort to achieve better eyes on 3/4 faces. I think I drew this several times; to this day it's the position that is most difficult for me to draw, and the only solution I see is to keep practicing and practicing.
Continuamos con otra página donde me estaba esforzando para lograr mejores ojos en rostros en 3/4. Creo que dibujé esto varias veces; al día de hoy es la posición que más se me dificulta para dibujar y la única solución que veo es seguir y seguir practicando.
On this page I used everything I had learned, and with a pencil and a lot of hatching, not always well done. I drew 6 eyes. I'm very satisfied with the result obtained because I didn't expect to draw them like that when I had the reference in front of me; without a doubt it surprised me in a good way. I know there are many mistakes and it's not perfect, but I see that I have indeed advanced and learned.
En esta página utilicé todo lo aprendido y con un lápiz y mucho hatching, no siempre bien hecho, dibujé 6 ojos. Muy satisfecho con el resultado obtenido porque no esperaba dibujarlos así cuando tuve la referencia delante; sin dudas me sorprendió para bien. Sé que hay muchos errores y no es perfecto, pero veo que sí he avanzado y aprendido.
I say goodbye with this page where I drew many eyes using photographic references, an exercise I did several times and that I already shared from a page of my other sketchbook, since it was my daily drawing. It's an exercise I really like, so I think I'll make more pages like this one, gathering many gazes from different photographs. I hope you like it too. Me despido con esta hoja donde dibujé muchos ojos utilizando referencias fotográficas, un ejercicio que hice varias veces y que ya compartí desde una página de mi otro sketchbook, ya que fue mi dibujo diario. Es un ejercicio que me gusta mucho, así que creo que haré más páginas como esta, recopilando muchas miradas de distintas fotografías. Espero que a ustedes también les guste. Esto es todo por hoy, y este fue el resultado de dibujar un mismo elemento seguido; creo que es un buen ejercicio y experimento. Gracias por acompañarme un día más dibujando.
