It was a pleasant Friday evening, and after looking at the weather, I thought it would be a waste not to spend some time outdoors. I wasn't planning anything too serious tonight—just a quick cycling session around the city, enjoy the surroundings, take a few photos, and then end the adventure with a nice dinner.

There are plenty of ways to enjoy the city, but for me, one of the simplest and most satisfying ways is by cycling.

I don't really need to cycle fast or cover a huge distance every time. Sometimes, a slow ride with plenty of stops along the way is actually more enjoyable. Whenever I see an interesting building, a nice street, some beautiful trees, or even just a good view of the sky, I can simply stop my bicycle, take out my camera, and capture the moment.

For tonight's little adventure, I decided to cycle around the Aljunied area.

I've explored this part of Singapore many times before, but tonight I took a route that I don't usually follow. That's one thing I like about wandering around the city—even in familiar neighborhoods, there are still streets and corners that can feel completely new when you approach them from another direction.

One thing that really caught my attention around Aljunied is the nice balance between the buildings and the greenery.

There are plenty of high-rise apartment blocks here, but at the same time, mature trees are everywhere. Some of them are huge and have probably been standing there for many years. Personally, I really appreciate seeing this kind of balance because looking at buildings all the time can sometimes feel a little depressing LOL.

The trees soften the appearance of the neighborhood and somehow make everything feel more relaxed.

I also noticed more condominium developments appearing around the area. Some of the newer buildings look quite massive and bulky compared to the older apartments nearby, but I suppose this is part of how the city continues to change. Aljunied is already in a very convenient location, so it's not surprising to see more developments happening here.

Still, I hope the greenery will continue to remain part of the neighborhood even as more buildings come up.

As the evening went on, the cycling became even more enjoyable because of the cool breeze. This was probably my favorite part of tonight's ride. The temperature felt comfortable, the air was much nicer, and the sky looked clearer again now that the recent haze seems to have passed.

There was something very calming about slowly cycling through the streets while the daylight faded and the streetlights gradually started turning on.

Eventually, it was time to return my rented bicycle. And of course, after cycling around the city, there must be a reward! LOL.

So right after parking the bicycle, I headed straight to a hawker stall and got myself a very satisfying dinner: a generous serving of rice, pork ribs covered in sauce, stir-fried vegetables, and an omelette.

Was it more food than I actually burned during my cycling?

Probably. 😂

But let's not calculate that tonight!

For me, it was the perfect ending to a simple Friday adventure—some cycling, photography, city wandering, cool evening air, and finally, a delicious meal.

Bon appétit, and see you on my next cycling adventure!
