Got a fab blue sky with just a little breeze. Perfect for a 9am game of Shoalhaven Heads pickleball.

alt

Cycled down - played for an hour - cycled back to cook breakfast

alt

Gave me a half day free to take a drive and walk to find orchids. Had looked up on iNat some spots in Huskisson. Picked a spot in Jervis Bay NP I have not walked

alt

iNat said there were sun orchids and flying duck orchids

alt

Sandy track under the powerlines heading down to Moona Moona Creek with a ribbon of bush between the track and tbe house and the track and the creek - slender rice flower to start

alt

Sparkly flax lily

alt

Lots of milk maids - umbrellata burchardia

alt

Did find a flying duck orchid - caleana major - right in the low grassy edges of the sand track

alt

Location shot

alt

Loofah flower - my name

alt

A few milkwort flowers

alt

Less likely to find orchids this close to the creek - proved to be true

alt

Moona Moona Creek

alt

Looks like leptospermum - looked it up. English name is wedding bush

alt

This is the seed ball to match

alt

Budding hyacinth orchid

alt

Close up

alt

One more - spots suggest dipodium variegatum

alt

This is leptospermum squarrosum

alt

More flying duck orchids - caleana major. A photo challenge with different light and shade

alt

Matching leaf. Most orchid leaves are green - these are not

alt

Front on

alt

Seeded orchid - maybe caladenia alata

alt

White kunzea

alt

Was not expecting this fire trail sign. I often walk this from the other end and have never got this far.

alt

Was a good trail for flying ducks

alt

Pick where to focus

alt

Try the bottom one

alt

Not a double header but two plants intertwined

alt

Down low on track edge

alt

Turned around here. One of these days I will walk as far from the other side. Never know what I will find

alt

Light and dark for flying ducks

alt

Hibbertia in yellow

alt

Open and closing

alt

One last hurrah for flying ducks

alt

Drove down to where Moona
Moona creek meets the sea to have my lunch. Nice spot to soak in the blue

Pleased I did the iNat check as it offered up orchids in a spot I would not have thought about

Cycled over the caravan park next door to have a drink with the Bike Friday cycling group. We start our weekend away tomorrow. Nice chat. Cooked dinner at home. Been a more social day than is normal
