Had in mind taking the bike up to ride Morton NP above Kangaroo Valley. After a big day decided to do it as a walking day. Walk two fire trails on the riad from Kangaroo Valley to Tallowa Dam. Have walked them before
Parked up on Duffys Fire Trail - well it is a road rather than a firetrail
Directly where the trail started was a budding hyacinth orchid - probably dipodium variegatum judging by the spots
Second one proves the sighting
The road has been rebuilt and the edges smashed with a mulching machine. These are survivors - think they are blue trumpets
More at ground level - maybe a goodenia
More in yellow
A few purple fan flowers
And the smallest purple fringe lilies I have seen. About half the size if normal and they were all that size
Slender rice flower- a lot about
Context photo showing the damage from the track work
More in yellow. That was enough for this trail. No more orchids and track work has smashed anything on the edges. Drove to next trail along which goes down to the river
Have walked this before. Been a reduction burn on the left. Flower life better here
Fab blue sky day to be out walking and focused on one side up and back
More in yellow
Starburst flower (my name)
More yellow on the way back - pea flower
Lots of purple - dampiera purpurea
Big lace monitor lizard heading up in the burned section
Was a walk to reflect on my sister-in-law's life the day after her funeral. They say it takes a month for every year. See you in 2031 on this one going right back to when I was at high school
Stopped at shops on the way back. Some special things for dinner
Sunset colours over the mountain to wrap up the day
Barbecued prawns for dinner
