Arnie Cunningham is a deeply insecure young man; he suffers from acne, is unpopular with girls, and is even bullied. At one point, he buys an old car—a red-and-white 1958 Plymouth Fury—that requires some tuning up and repairs. To Arnie, the car is no ordinary vehicle; he even gives it a name, "Christine," which imbues it with a personality and "humanizes" it. Arnie soon develops a dependency on the car, and it begins to influence his own personality. He starts to change his appearance and character, becoming more self-confident and even popular, yet he no longer seems like himself. He ignores the warnings of his girlfriend, Leigh, and his best friend, Dennis Guilder—both of whom have realized that things took a dark turn the moment Christine arrived.

Este auto no es cualquier cosa para Arnie, incluso tiene un nombre "Christine" lo cuál le otorga una personalidad y lo "humaniza" de pronto Arnie comienza a desarrollar una relación de dependencia con su auto, y este empieza a injerir en su personalidad. I believe the book offers a very vivid and effective illustration of the consequences of letting oneself be consumed by an obsession or addiction. Christine could easily serve as an allegory for drugs or alcohol—the way she transforms Arnie’s personality, making him feel "special" or "powerful" before turning him into someone unrecognizable; the way she isolates him from friends and family; and the way she makes him believe he has everything when, in reality, he is losing it all. This makes the book even more compelling and sinister, as it mirrors—through fantasy—the horrors that many experience in real life.

Arnie undergoes a transformation that some might label as character "evolution"—though I wouldn't call it that; if anything, I think he *devolved*, as he lost much of his personality in the process. At the same time, this makes me think that *Christine* could also be viewed as an allegory for power—something that can corrupt you if you lack the maturity to handle it or if your moral values aren't firmly grounded. Many young people lose their innocence by letting themselves be swayed by harmful external influences that can destroy both them and their aspirations.
Arnie sufre una transformación que algunos podrían catalogar como "evolución" de personaje, aunque yo no lo llamaría como tal, en todo caso creo que involucionó, porque en dicha transformación perdió mucho de su personalidad y a la vez esto también me hace pensar que Crhistine también podría tomarse como una alegoría al poder, el cuál puede corromperte si no eres lo suficientemente maduro para procesarlo, o si no tienes muy bien sentados tus valores morales. Muchos jóvenes pierden su inocencia al dejarse llevar por influencias externas y dañinas que pueden terminar con ellos y con sus aspiraciones.
The book has a pretty good pace; sure, there are a few moments where the story slows down a bit, but not enough to make you lose interest, as the plot is very compelling. It is also quite unsettling to see how the car gradually exerts influence over the boy and how his attitude, personality, and even his appearance begin to change—demonstrating that human beings are ever-changing and that we cannot take anything for granted.
El libro tiene un ritmo bastante bueno, claro, hay alguna que otra parte donde el ritmo de la historia se ralentiza un poco pero no hasta el punto de hacerte perder la atención, ya que la trama es muy interesante, además resulta muy desconcertante ver como el auto poco a poco va ejerciendo influencia en el chico y como este va cambiando de actitud, personalidad y hasta de apariencia, esto demuestra que los seres humanos somos seres cambiantes y que no podemos dar nada por sentado.
