Who wants to know how the latest flavours are doing?!
We have two flavours being bottled today:
Strawberry/Lime/Mint- dreamed up by @aweber
and
Skittles- an evil genius idea from @aussieninja
If you're wondering how this came about, check out the post and comments on

Do You Even Booch, Bro?
OK guys, what have you done?!
First, let's look at Andrew's idea. I thought it sounded super delicious. The problem with brewing fruit flavours in Canada is that between October and June, very few fruits are in season, most have traveled very far, and need a thorough scrubbing. I did get my hands on some big ol' strawberries for this brew, but they are by no means sweet flavourful beauties. But they did the trick!
ALWAYS thoroughly wash your flavouring fruit. I like to soak them in a bath of water and white vinegar. Don't use soap as any residue can kill the probiotics!
I put about four XL strawberries, cut into slices, into the bottom of the jar. I cut most of the skin off the lime as that shit can make your brew bitter and insanely bubbly. I did leave a teensy bit on because the zest is nice. Just a few slices from a little lime. And finally a couple of big mint leaves. I smooshed it all a bit with the wooden spoon- let the flavours get to know each other a bit. Then poured in the fresh booch.
It looked real pretty! I was pretty excited to see how this one would do.
After about 3 days of flavouring, I decided it was time. The strawberries had had most of the colour sucked out of them, so I knew it was about right.
I strained the liquid into a poptop bottle. I was super surprised at the smell. It smelled like Fruitopia Strawberry Passion Awareness, which was my favourite sugary drink back in high school. There was only one vending machine in the whole building that had it. Ooph it's sweet stuff but the scent is super recognizeable! I couldn't believe how the less-than-perfect strawbs had overpowered the booch scent, which in itself is usually pretty strong. I didn't detect much lime scent, and no mint. We will see how it tastes when the time comes. For now, closing the top and waiting for the bubbles.
Now, Mr. Skittles.
This is the most bizarre thing. I put enough Skittles in the jar to cover the bottom in a single layer. I didn't put green ones in because I didn't want to end up with a muddy colour. So red, orange, yellow, and a few purples went in. Skittles, unlike Froot Loops, each have their own flavour, so I was hesitant to leave out the green ones but decided that the others would be enough.
As soon as I poured the booch on top, there was bubbling and fizzing and things happening in there. It was wild. I was fooling around taking some pics to document it all. (FOR SCIENCE!) The booch managed to eat away at the Skittles colour within minutes.
After a few minutes, I went to get the shot from the top of the jar. HOLY FUCK
THE ESSES CAME RIGHT OFF THE GODDAMN SKITTLES, YOU GUYS
What the actual fuck.
So, that happened. Too late to turn back now!
The booch is DESTROYING those Skittles!
After about 3 days, it was time to bottle. The Skittles didn't stand a chance. The booch completely dissolved them. They became the booch. Cloudy, pink, and smelling like skittles, the weird liquid was poured into the bottle. I don't know about this, you guys!
All that's left of the Skittles
So, now these get to sit for a few days to get bubbly. Hopefully they fizz up nicely. Stay tuned for the next episode- if these bad boys turn out, @mstafford and I will do a video of the tasting!
Until then, thanks for reading! Cheers!
