Kolejny dzień pełen atrakcji w Barcelonie zaczęliśmy od wizyty w bazylice Sagrada Família. Świątynia zaprojektowana ponad sto lat temu przez niezrównanego Antoniego Gaudíego wciąż jest w budowie, ale od dawna zachwyca każdego, kto zobaczy ją z zewnątrz. Wnętrze jest jednak jeszcze bardziej niezwykłe – zdumiewa sposób, w jaki mistrz Gaudí zaprojektował najpiękniejszy współczesny kościół na świecie.
[ENG] We started another day full of attractions in Barcelona with a pre-booked visit to the Sagrada Família. Designed over a century ago by the incomparable Antoni Gaudí, the basilica is still under construction, yet it has long captivated anyone who sees it from the outside. The interior, however, is perhaps even more extraordinary—it's amazing how Master Gaudí designed what is arguably the most beautiful modern church in the world.
Wczoraj przechodziliśmy obok modernistycznego kompleksu szpitala Sant Pau. Wahaliśmy się, czy wejść do środka, czego później żałowałem, dlatego przy okazji dzisiejszej wizyty w bazylice wróciliśmy tam, by go zwiedzić. Warto było wydać kilka euro na audioguida, aby lepiej poznać historię i przeznaczenie tego miejsca, a także naocznie przekonać się, jak zmieniło się podejście medycyny do leczenia.
[ENG] Yesterday, we passed by the modernist complex of the Sant Pau Hospital. I had hesitated about going inside and later regretted it, so while visiting the basilica, we went back to tour the historical hospital. It was well worth spending a few extra euros on the audio guide to better understand the history and purpose of the site, as well as to see firsthand how medical approaches to healing have evolved.
Po tych dwóch wizytach potrzebowaliśmy resetu, więc ruszyliśmy w stronę morza. Obawialiśmy się silnego wiatru, ale ku naszemu zaskoczeniu było całkiem przyjemnie, zwłaszcza gdy przysiedliśmy na kieliszek sangrii.
[ENG] After these two visits, we felt like clearing our heads, so we headed toward the sea. We were afraid it would be very windy by the shore, but to our surprise, it was quite pleasant—especially when we sat down for a glass of sangria.
Ostatnim biletowanym miejscem, które dziś odwiedziliśmy, była bazylika Santa Maria del Mar. Po lekturze Katedry w Barcelonie Ildefonso Falconesa wiedziałem, że muszę ją zobaczyć. Byliśmy tam już wczoraj, ale z powodu wieczornej mszy nas nie wpuszczono. Dziś weszliśmy bez problemu, podziwiając kunszt średniowiecznych mistrzów kamieniarskich.
[ENG] The last ticketed site we visited today was the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar. After reading Ildefonso Falcones' Cathedral of the Sea, I knew I had to see this church while in Barcelona. We had tried yesterday, but they wouldn't let us in because of the evening mass. Today, we entered without any issues and could admire the craftsmanship of the medieval stonemasons.
Na koniec wróciliśmy do dzielnicy Barceloneta, gdzie znaleźliśmy przytulną restaurację i skusiliśmy się na paellę. Bo być w Barcelonie i nie zjeść paelli, to jak być w Rzymie i nie widzieć Wieży Eiffla! :)
[ENG] Finally, we returned to the Barceloneta district, where we found a cozy restaurant and treated ourselves to paella. After all, being in Barcelona and not eating paella is like being in Rome and not seeing the Eiffel Tower! :)
