Ostatniego dnia urlopu dopadł mnie jakiś wirus. W zasadzie mógłbym wczoraj pójść do lekarza i bez problemu dostałbym zwolnienie na kilka dni, ale obawiam się, że doprowadziłoby to mojego szefa do wrzenia. A przede wszystkim zepsułbym weekend koledze, który pracował ponad normę w czasie kiedy ja byłem na urlopie. Wczoraj się oszczędzałem, przed południem pojechaliśmy na farmę po truskawki, bez dwóch zdań najlepsze truskawki w okolicy, cały czas jest kolejka chętnych. Gdyby budka, z której sprzedają truskawki stała odwrotnie to mogliby zrobić sprzedaż "drive-through".
[ENG] On the last day of my holiday I came down with some kind of virus. I could have gone to the doctor yesterday and had a few days off, but I'm afraid that would have upset my boss. And most importantly, I would have ruined the weekend for a colleague who was working overtime while I was on holiday. Yesterday I spared myself, before lunch we went to the farm to pick strawberries, without doubt the best strawberries in the area, there is always a queue of eager people. If the stall from which they sell strawberries was the other way round, they could do a 'drive-through' sale.
Po południu poszliśmy na chwilę do centrum miasta. Od piątku do poniedziałku trwa Doudou. Oficjalnie Doudou to "tradycyjny festiwal folklorystyczny odbywający się w Mons w Hainaut w Belgii w Niedzielę Trójcy Świętej. Święto składa się z dwóch ważnych części: procesji obejmującej zejście i powstanie sanktuarium św. Waltrudy oraz walki świętego Jerzego ze smokiem zwanej Lumeçon." A nieoficjalnie to okazja do trzydniowego imprezowania. Na piątek wieczorem zaplanowany był koncert na Grand Place, plac zapełniał się już od 15. Zrobiliśmy tylko krótki spacer po mieście i wróciliśmy do domu. Raz tam byłem wieczorem to wiem co się tam dzieje, łatwo się zgubić w tłumie.
[ENG] In the afternoon we went to the city centre for a while. The Doudou takes place from Friday to Monday. Officially, the Doudou is 'a traditional folklore festival held in Mons, Hainaut, Belgium, on Trinity Sunday'. The festival consists of two main parts: a procession with the descent and ascent of the shrine of Saint Waltrude, and the battle between Saint George and the dragon called Lumeçon. And unofficially, it's a three-day party. There was a concert on the Grand Place on Friday evening, and the place was packed from 3 p.m. We just had a quick walk around the town and went home. Having been there once, I know what goes on there, it's easy to get lost in the crowds.
