The refreshing wind was blowing constantly, from the early morning.
The grass was swaying ...
... the fluffy thistle seeds were flying ...
... and me and some friends ...
... we were walking through the tall grass ...
... and across the stony terrain near the sea.
I took many portraits of the meadows on that walk. I mean, the place was changing with every blow of wind.
On a windy day like this, with the grass waving, the meadows look like a sea of grass even more than usual.
About fifty meters further ...
... the liquid waves were rolling ...
... and spraying the shore.
I don't know what my friends were doing at that time ...
... but I remember zooming in and out ...
... shifting my focus from the grass to the sea ...
... and back ... over and over.
Some catamaran was approaching from the distance, sailing towards the coast in front of me ...
... and when I turned around ...
... I saw four kites in the distance behind me.
A moment later ...
... with my eyes back on the grass ...
... I started searching for small details. That's how I found this wingless nymph of the Carpocoris purpureipennis shieldbug ...
... well camouflaged on the dry yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
The yarrow has grown under the much taller wild carrot (Daucus carota). At this time of the year, the intricate, flat structure that holds the tiny flowers had turned into a basket - like thing that holds the seeds. In one of those elegantly shaped shelters ...
... I found a small spider ...
... the Cheiracanthium virescens sack spider.
The atmosphere inside the green basket was nice and cozy. After taking this photograph ...
... I heard someone yelling across the meadow.
A friend was calling me. And then she took a photograph. I took one too.
About twenty meters further ...
... in another wild carrot's basket ...
... I found some small, dark ground beetle (Carabidae family). Can't tell you the exact species.
A bit later ...
... when I took a better look at the horizon ...
... I noticed that the top of the distant mountain range was covered by dense white clouds, and tried to imagine how it would feel being up there, swallowed by the foggy atmosphere.
After a few more steps through the grass ...
... I photographed a cloud behind the not so distant land, just across the bay. It was a nice, fluffy cloud. It looked a bit like some giant woolly creature. The Sheep - Godzilla, or something like that.
After some more walking through the dry, brown grass ...
... I came across a shrub that looked like a little green Christmas tree, ideal for a suburban living room from a typical Christmas movie.
This is the tree heather (Erica arborea).
These evergreen plants usually form dense, impassable growths that can cover large areas.
This shrub was unusually isolated, and it looked cool on the photograph.
Here you can see what I saw when I took another look at the horizon.
Some distant ships were sailing in different direction ... in a different way.
After an hour or two of individualistic rambling ...
... we met on the road that leads to the car.
After some more walking, we reached my car. But we weren't ready to go.
The evening was nice, so we just stood there, near the car, and we continued talking like on some cocktail party. At one point, I climbed on the hood, and took a look through the lens from that elevated position.
The landscape looked cool from up there ...
... I saw some new details, stuff that I didn't notice before ...
... and, as the clouds turned into distant flames ...
... while the sun was going down ...
... I took a bit more of that windy, seaside atmosphere with me ...
... before we drove away.
As always in these walks on HIVE, the photographs are my work - THE END.
