Butterflies in the large and varied Nymphalidae family are commonly known as brush-footed butterflies. There are quite a few distinct subfamilies in the family, with more than six thousand species, and the butterfly I'm about to show you today in this post belongs to the Heliconiinae subfamily. Since that subfamily is rich and varied in itself, with many quite different-looking species, I'll tell you that the protagonist of this post belongs to the Argynnini tribe in the aforementioned Heliconiinae subfamily. Brush-footed butterflies in that tribe are commonly known as fritillaries, and the species I'm talking about belongs to the genus Boloria. The scientific name of the species is Boloria dia.
It isn't very common where I live. I mean, it should be, but the number of butterflies is declining, so I've seen this species rarely in the last few decades.
Boloria dia is commonly known as the Weaver's fritillary or violet fritillary. Larvae feed on Violaceae(Violets) and Rubus species (Blackberries, Raspberries, Dewberries, Cloudberries)

That's all. Hope you like butterflies. I mean, who doesn't? But who knows, maybe you are one of those weirdos who find them ugly.
As always on Hive, the photographs are my work.
