Yes, this colorful species from the Pentatomidae family is kinda lovely. It is very similar to the Carpocoris purpureipennis, another species from the same family that appeared in many of my old posts. Unlike the Carpocoris purpureipennis, however, which I encounter very often here in my area, this is the first appearance of the Codophila varia on my blog here on Hive.
I photographed it a long time ago, somewhere in the northern part of Istria. Probably about 70 - 100 kilometers from where I live.
The markings on its upper surface and the contrasts between its colors are much more accentuated than in Carpocoris purpureipennis.
These shield bugs are polyphagous, which means they feed on more than one type of plant, but are mainly found on Asteraceae and Apiaceae species.
