It happened last year, in winter, at the end of March, if I remember correctly. The morning was pretty cold, but it was sunny. Things around me were fairly bright; the sky was extremely blue, and the colors were overall nicely saturated. The generic winter gray that often permeates everything wasn't there on that occasion.
This is the hotel I mentioned in the title. It's a big one, and its name is Histria. It was built in the early eighties. Hotel Histria is situated on the seaside outskirts of Pula. Besides being a Romanian colloquial word for penis, Pula is also the name of the city I often visit for work, shopping, etc., becouse it is the nearest city to my small hometown, filled with tourists in summer but quite deserted for the rest of the year.
I had to do some stuff in the city very early in the morning, and after the work was done, I rewarded myself with a relaxing walk in the large park of the Hotel Histria.
As I usually do, I also took a couple of photographs along the way. I wasn't very inspired to do so; it was more like practicing a habit I can't get rid of than trying to get an interesting picture, so the photographs are very few, and their quality is far from stellar.
At some point, I spotted a fishing boat passing across the calm sea in the distance. This type of relatively large fishing boat is equipped for hunting sardines. The fishing is done at night, with big lamps that attract the fish, so you can often see these boats going back to the harbor in the morning, accompanied by very loud seagulls.
Here you can see some thick, succulent leaves of the decorative plant that grows in many places around the Hotel. The scientific name of this plant, native to South Africa, is Carpobrotus edulis.
Two holes in the neat white wall are a nice minimalistic touch that makes the photograph more interesting than it should be, but they can't save this boring litlle post from being barely sufficient at best.
Here you can see another plant that grows very close to the building. This looks like some kind of tall, exotic grass. That's all I can tell you about it.
This is the entrance to some kind of bar, a beach bar of sorts. The beach is very near, just about twenty meters or so, so I think that it can be called a beach bar despite not being a typical small, isolated bar directly on the beach. I don't know much about this summer holidays stuff, nor do I care to learn about it.
Some details of this generally boring architecture are actually pretty cool. Some squares are placed in the right place.
Here you can see a much bigger chunk of the hotel and the stairs that lead to the nearby sea. And that's all for today. The post ends here.
As always, the photographs are my work.
