My Actifit Report Card: July 11 2020

Hi guys and thanks for stopping by!

Today was a very special day! 39 years ago, I married my best friend, @silvertop! 💕 today, he’s still my best friend! Where has the time gone?!

So in celebration, we decided to just hang out together and do nothing planned. We joined the SGS community on the Saturday voice chat just to drop in for a bit. We did that while headed to a store and plugged the phone into the stereo system. It was like having a party in the car! We had to go as we had arrived at the store we wanted to go to.

After getting a few things we headed back home. Now what I didn’t tell you was what occurred before we left.

We live in the forest in the Pacific Northwest. We have tons of wildlife, and I thought I’d glimpsed an owl gliding through the backyard. A little later, I happen to notice out the windows up in the loft, this huge black bird perching on the top of a dead treetop we have. I immediately recognized it as a Turkey Vulture. They are, or so I used to think, more common in eastern Washington, but once I’d identified them over there, I noticed we had them here too.

When we returned from the store, I looked out that window again and saw he was back. About that time, @silvertop came in from outside and said you’ve got to get your phone and come outside now. I grabbed my phone and headed out.

Turkey Vulture prepares to take flight.

And lift off.......

So now the reason I was called outside........

There were at least 6 of them in the trees and more flying overhead. Now, if you know anything about Turkey Vultures, it’s that they clean up messes. With that mind, I told @silvertop that we needed to see what was going on. So I started heading back and ducked under the solar array and followed the foot path until I could get around the wall of pine trees we have and started into the back yard. I didn’t expect to see what we found. Apparently an adult deer had died/ been killed in our backyard. Her intestines were in a pile about 15+ feet away from her. It almost looked like she had just laid down an her belly and died. We aren’t sure if she was sick or injured or attacked.

So I called our neighbor Jan to let her know so she could be careful about going out especially at night. We live in cougar country and this is like a dinner bell to come dine in the yard. She then told us they had seen a deer who wasn’t acting as deers normally do. She also said she had some unidentifiable scat. She took a pic and text’d to me. It was bear scat. So now we’ve got a bear very close and the possibility of cougars come to dine along with the invasion of the birds!!😳

And.....the rain began again! So no hike either!! It’s been an interesting anniversary.

Happy Anniversary @silvertop! It’s been a wonderful ride so far and I know there’s more to come!💕💕

That’s gonna be it for now. Keep on @actifit steppin’! Take cate and have a good night! 💕👣😎👍💪🐑😁
