In the world of today where a lot of people hide under fake lives and do whatever they like, finding a true connection has now become somewhat hard. I have heard of cases where colleagues betray fellow colleagues, friends rising against themselves, people saying one thing and meaning another thing. More so, some others hide their flaws just to appear perfect, or not to be judged. A lot of these games are part of what weakens the foundation of true friendship, relationships, and connections. But when you live a life of honesty, you build a solid foundation for all these. Honesty also has a way of actively strengthening and transforming the bonds with the people around you.

You have to understand that trust is the currency of any good relationship. But trust is not gifted, rather it is built through honesty. If you are honest and transparent, people will naturally trust you, and they will want to be close to you. When you are constantly and consistently honest with people, you will give them a sense of safety around you. They will know that they will not have to guess your intentions or look for hidden meanings in your words. They will take your "yes" for a yes, without thinking it might be a "no" in disguise. This is part of what builds good connection, and they will want to work with you.

I remember what happen sometimes ago where we went for an outside work. During the course of the work, one prominent figure entered the venue and after a while, he got impressed by our services, so he called me and gave me an envelope on behalf of the team. They did not see when he called me, and they did not know that he gave us an envelope. Someone else would have decided to keep the money to himself and pretend that nothing happened. But I brought out everything and I shared it evenly with my colleagues. They were so pleased that even when they did not know about the money, I chose to honestly bring it out.

It was not long, and another prominent figure walked in. Little did I know that he had also brought some tips to appreciate us for our outstanding services. Because I chose to be honest, it also set the pace for them, and they also did the same. At the end of the day, I got a lot of tips because I chose to be honest. Much more than that, I also maintained good relationship. Imagine if I was not transparently honest, I would have missed out of them. Honesty is not gifted, it is not forced, rather it is earned by how you act and what you say. It also take time to build, but you have to be cautious because it can crash with just one intentionally wrong action.

It is also worthy to note that not everyone will be comfortable with your honesty, which is actually a blessing in disguise. When you live and speak truthfully, it will naturally filter your circle. The people who thrive on manipulation, and who prefer shallow connections, will distant themselves from you. But on the other hand, the people who value integrity will naturally draw themselves to you. It is honesty that ensures that the energy you put into relationships are actually going to the right people, that is the people who value you for who you are.

To strengthen your relationship through honesty, you need daily practice and courage. That is, you make a conscious choice to do what is real even if it is not easy. It is true that there are times that you may feel like drawing away from the path of honesty, maybe because of challenges or other things. But you have to understand that honesty should not be done only when it is convenient, but it should be a lifestyle. You may not even see the immediate result, but you should keep your honesty. At the end of the day, your honesty will make you to stand out. Remember that honesty is not a one-time quality, but it should be a lifetime lifestyle.
