Have you ever experienced a scenario where you planned on what to do, but after trying it out maybe a couple of times, it did not produce the required result, then you resorted to a "Plan B," which later delivered beyond expectation? There are times that the backup plan becomes the best plan. A lot of people have what they want to do, their choice of career, the business they want to go into, and a lot of other things. Some people spend years pursuing their "Option A," thinking that it is the only true way for them to find happiness. But the truth is that life does not always follow a specific script. Your breakthrough can actually come from your second option.

You will agree with me that things change, economy changes, new trends emerge, and even relationships can end. If the first option fails, a lot of people think that it is the end of the road. They feel lost, angry, and very disappointed. However, staying trapped in that feeling, and sulking over what has happened will only make you not to see the blessedness of what can happen. Sometimes, the result you are looking for may not be in your first option. Option B can actually be the best thing that can ever happen to you. This is why you have to be flexible in your approach to life.

What will change your life may come from an option outside your first choice. This is called "secondary breakthrough." In more cases than none, your backup plan is not a consolation prize. Rather it may be what will open your life up to a far bigger fulfilment than your first plan. You may be pursuing after something and it may not be working. Or maybe you are not having fulfilment in it. It may just be that there is something else that you need to do. Do not hold on to a particular thing even when it is obviously not working.

Imagine walking through a path, and when you get to a point, you discover that the path is blocked. No matter how long you stand there and sulk, the path may not open up for you. Even if walking through that path to your destination is the first option, you will have to look for another option. After all, it may not be only that path that can lead to the destination. One of the reasons why some people are stranded and stagnated in life is because they have held on to their first option even when it does not seem to work, without look for an "Option B." You have have to understand that life is full of endless and infinite possibilities, so do not be stuck at just one option.

It is worthy to note that Option B can help you to grow in ways that even Option A did not make you to. When things become challenging and tough, it will force you to leave your comfort zone, stretch yourself beyond where you are, and take daring risks. You may not discover your hidden talents, your strengths, and what you are capable of until you leave your comfort zone and do what you never thought was possible. When you are forced to take a deviation, then you will realise that there are other possibilities beyond where you are. Do not limit yourself to just one option when other options abound, try to take a look into what else can work.

There was an athlete I read about, he is from this part of the world. He was a footballer and was doing very well until he suffered an injury that ended his footballing career. He thought his world had come to an end, but then he decided to pick up his life and try something different. With the money he had gathered, he went into animal farming. He started rearing birds for egg, and for consumption too. Fastforward to now, he owns one of the biggest animals farms in his state, and producing thousands of eggs per day. When he was interviewed, he revealed that he is more fulfilled in this business than he was as an athlete. You see, he was forced to go for Option B, and it was what gave him the secondary breakthrough.

In the same way, there are lots of people who are doing something else from what they initially planned to do, and they are making impact in it. This shows that you should not hold on to something too much that you will not know when to move on. You have to be sensitive to understand what works for you, and then follow after it.
