Brief description of the daily life in the personal quarantine.
My day Saturday has been pleasant, calm and quiet at home. I really love these days that for many people would be boring days, I know it sounds strange, but I am not one of those who chase adrenaline as if it were a drug of limited production and they were desperate to consume it, in truth I am a case in extreme opposite, I am one of those who could well enjoy a certain bucolic way of life, of course, as long as I have electricity, internet signal and computers at my disposal... very well, that does not sound very bucolic in the classic sense of the word, but I guess I make myself understood.
Today we reach the 855th day since the #quarantine was announced in #Venezuela due to the #COVID-19 #pandemic, there are comments on social networks that cases are increasing in this country, showing an upsurge in infections, but people common on the street is already so used to the idea that they are not respecting security measures, so it is not so strange that they are getting sick in greater numbers, in short, that not much can be done if people do not want to take care of themselves.
Looking for what theme to record the day, my brother told me that we are on a date of Marian dedication, one in particular that reminds me of the grandmother who raised us:
Today, July 16, thousands of #Catholic #Christian faithful in the world commemorate the Day of the Virgin of Carmen. Of the Marian dedications (representations with proper names of Mary, Mother of Jesus, the Christ) we have a particular memory of this, since it turns out that the grandmother's second name was in honor of this virgin, to whom she was also devoted. Although I am certainly not a very religious person, I tend to respect people's beliefs and appreciate them to the best of my ability, I can be said to be an atheist, but not a fanatic atheist who denies all divinity and the need for people to worship higher existences, I understand that in many cases it is a necessity to maintain sanity and survive the pressures in some hells that people may have to suffer, so that faith may be what keeps them afloat, it is like the last hope and desperate. Therefore, I prefer to respect and accept that we all live our lives with different perceptions.
Returning to the subject of dedication, one of the things I remember a lot about her is that her grandmother liked to visit an old chapel in the center of the capital, where there was a representation painted in a fresco on the wall of the chapel in where you could see an image very similar to the one I have selected for this publication, in that image, the virgin was holding the baby Jesus while floating over the souls in pain, holding a scapular (simple devotional necklace with two small religious prints, usually of the Virgin and the Christ). While she was floating there, the angels under her direction took souls to raise them to redemption and reclaim the fallen for a new chance. Of the invocations that I can remember, it is one of the few that appears on a purgatory or perhaps a layer of hell, drawing souls and interceding for redemption, that is quite particular and it is something that my grandmother loved a lot.
I think she was a fan of second chances, thinking that if you fell down once you could get up again, it's not a bad thing in itself and it's nice to think about the idea of being able to be redeemed. I, for one, admit that I also like that idea to a certain extent.
Well, that would be all for this record, I hope we can read each other again in the future and meanwhile you are well.
