Good Afternoon Donut Fans!
It’s been quite a while since I last wrote about Krispy Kreme donuts. I was waiting for them to release their Christmas collection as they do bring out some festive treats every year. I bought these Saturday and it only took me two days to finish a dozen! The first donut I had was the Santa Belly.

Can’t have Christmas without Father Christmas can we? This one had to be the first one on the list to try. A big filled donut with luscious red icing decorated with a chocolate icing and fondant belt and chocolate iced buttons. The red icing on the donut was very wet and sticky. It would seem the donuts were not kept in a cool place. I went to a store to get these and when I got home, I was surprised to see how wet and sticky this donut was. When I picked it up, the icing came off onto my fingers. I actually put it back and put the box of twelve in the fridge. I left the donuts in for quite a few hours until the evening so I could sit and enjoy my donuts. The icing did harden a little bit, but it was still rather soft. It had a nice taste to it. It did taste a little bit strawberry. I don’t know if this was the icing or the fluffy white kreme in the centre. The donut was filled very well. Unlike the second Santa Belly that I had which felt like only half the kreme filling was there. The majority of it was donut. The filling was very white and smooth. I still can’t make out where this strawberry flavour was coming from. It was only a very slight taste and it was nice. I’m just glad my first donut had lots and lots of filling in it.
Krispy Kreme have done a Santa Belly before and I’m pretty sure it had chocolate in it, so it was nice to see a kreme filled donut this year. It was a good donut and I would have another one again, but I wouldn’t be pleased if it had a small amount of filling like my second one. Also if the icing was a bit more set would be nice. The last thing you want is a runny, sticky donut. They have iced these much better in the past.
