Toasted rye bread with avocado

I love tasty, healthy snacks. This quick and easy fiber-rich* recipe is one of my all time favorites.

You can use any sort of bread but the tastiest option is to use sliced dark rye bread or any whole grain bread. Here is what you need:

2 large slices of rye/ whole grain bread
1 ripe avocado
butter or margarine
herbal seasoning mix

Slightly toast the breads and let them cool down few seconds. Cut the avocado in half, spread thin layer of butter on top of the breads and then generous layers (or chunks) of avocado. Sprinkle herbal seasoning to the top and enjoy.

  • = fiber-rich if you use whole grain bread

Note: Make sure the avocado is ripe (soft) enough. A ripe avocado is still relatively firm, but it will yield to gentle pressure when squeezed.
