Christmas and New Years have happened since the last edition of 'Ladders. While installing the most economical and local of internet connections, you can imagine I see our town from some strange angles and have entered the scuzziest flops to the nicest homes in town. To me, it is work I do to get outside and make money, so it is a nice change of scene and different skillset to test. The pictures I take of my unique little town, across the globe from most of my followers and friends, is one of my attempts of providing a unique perspective and story on the blockchain.

Here are a few from the last couple weeks!

I am not sure how have pictured the start of winter in a small Canadian town or whether you ever have. Well here it is.

This happens to be a nice clear day which is a treat when part of the job is external wiring and equipment installation. Even more so this year because the snowfall has been modest since Christmas and temperature has been quite moderate. Not the typical extreme winter day you might expect which is fine with me.

Those trying to play Spot the Access Point would be looking between the leaning pine trees and to the pole between them. This is my view from in front of the local Art Gallery which is FINALLY getting better internet after having bullshit DSL for decades.

Next up is a third floor apartment on the north end of town. The mid winter wind must howl through from the north on this little balcony which was still full of unshoveled snow which fell a couple weeks ago.

The walls were fairly tough to get through with a drill, they had a 10-year-old router & a cable modem they hoped would work, and there were no pets to keep me company. Still, I made my money and had a conversation where we questioned why racism wasn't obsolete by now. Damn straight!

Today, I spent a bit of my weekend helping someone enter the internet superhighway even though it is the weekend. This view is northwest from pretty close to the center of town. I really should have made this one a pano shot because the right of the picture would have included more of the water and the brand new theatre that hasn't even opened yet...a $60-million cash magnet is presently doing little for the community which predominantly makes its living on tourism.

The good news is that the internet connection went in well and the company was good. The bad news is that I know now I have failed @doctorcrypto and failed to get a shot of my furry helper. Often times, I am the new guy in a home with a pet or two who likes to investigate, visit and sometimes help. I was helped by a soft little cat that enjoyed the company of strangers, and must have been missing some teeth as it liked to stick its tongue out as it looked at me. Adorable company and I am vowing to make sure I deliver on the promise to include pets and other wonders in pictures for future editions.

This last shot is not an actual internet installation but a nice out-door shot to share on a #SublimeSunday. Here is the view from one of the meeting rooms in the fanciest upscale hotel in town when I was there for a press breakfast for the local multicultural association. The winter has gracefully settled upon this courtyard which is filled with dining and activities in the summer season. The hydrangeas stand tall despite the snow and cold northern wind as the standard grey midmorning sky hovers on the horizon.

We are hibernating for more reasons than just the winter this year. Still, this nice view when you consider the people across the globe who are enduring much worse then below zero temperatures and toothless stay-at-home orders. I will return here to capture a spring and summer version after the second wave hopefully recedes.
