You might surmise, because of the title, that I have swept the globe and am about to divulge upon my benevolent readers this week's developments in beer. As a #Beerologist, I would strive to such greatness, but I am getting ahead of myself here.
Beer blogging came naturally to me due to years spent brewing for myself, working with breweries on their technology & marketing, and the decades spent imbibing. Hence, the self-decreed title of the #Blockchain #Beerologist doing my best to consume, report and even brew to do that title justice.
This week, I am sharing a few of the beers which played a role in my week, and the gripping story behind each.
The Mid-Week Mug Club
What would you do if your morning downtown meeting ended, there were a few messages to send, and there is a mug with your name on it at the brewpub in the square? Only one real answer to that is to stop in, which I did. It would have been rude not to.
There aren't many better beers than the ones in your own custom mug from the shelf. I have done this enough times that Erica knows it will be IPA, whether it is the core IPA, a small batch or a guest IPA. This one was a nice 21 Haze East Coast IPA https://heritagehopsbrew.com/products/21-haze-east-coast-ipa Messages were sent, calls were made, beer was enjoyed.
Seasonal Gold!
Among my favourite things about Great Lakes Brewery in Toronto are their seasonal IPAs. The only bad thing about them is they are only available during 1 of 4 seasons and you have to do without the other 3. The good news is they have a wonderful seasonal IPAs every season.
Meanwhile...Down in Moxee https://www.greatlakesbeer.com/Beer/meanwhile-down-in-moxee-ipa/ is one of those. A couple of the Toronto-based beer nerds were crowing about getting the first of these available at the brewery. When it arrived in our local store, I snagged a couple and they were perfect for a good gaming session. This is a few years running as a popular brew so I should be able to enjoy it a couple weeks before it is gone.
My Second Favourite Kind of Beer
For the record, my favourite kinda beer is Lots. My second favourite is Free beer. While this one is not technically free, the business paid for it and the onion baji snack. I won't even name the beer because it is mega brewery bullshit I avoid whenever possible. It was nice with the snack from https://rajatavistock.ca
This brings us to today's beer. Another new one I have never tasted from a brewery I am just hearing of now Common Ground Beer Company https://commongoodbeer.com/ is out of Scarborough which is a suburb of the big city I seldom travel to on purpose. How bad can it be if they have a Hazy IPA?
The website is a goofy Squarespace one that they probably don't spend too much time on as I cannot find a link to Solace Hazy IPA anywhere. The description reads fantastically but what about the taste? I love Galaxy hops in an IPA and they have added wheat and oats for that silky mouth feel.
It really was creamy and sweet, even puffing up like an ice cream cone. Definitely tasty and I will try and pick up a couple more of these before they are gone. Well met Common Good!
