Es un verdadero gusto saludarlos de nuevo y compartir con ustedes lo que, para muchos, podr铆a parecer una reparaci贸n menor, pero que para m铆 ha representado un logro inmenso. Les hablo de un problema en mi hogar que me estaba robando la tranquilidad de una forma incre铆ble. No tienen idea de los dolores de cabeza que esto me dio; me sent铆a abrumada, agotada y, sinceramente, el trabajo me sobrepasaba.
Todo comenz贸 con un goteo que parec铆a inofensivo. Hace unos cinco a帽os, me toc贸 vivir una situaci贸n similar y en aquel momento logr茅 solucionarlo cambiando los pomos de la regadera. Fue santo remedio y el problema par贸 de inmediato. Por eso, esta vez pens茅 que ser铆a igual de sencillo, pero estaba muy equivocada. En esta oportunidad, por m谩s que lo intent茅, no lograba dar con la soluci贸n de ninguna manera, y lo que empez贸 como una peque帽a molestia termin贸 convirti茅ndose en una p茅rdida absoluta de tiempo y dinero.
Lo primero que hice, confiando en mi experiencia previa, fue ir a comprar los pomos nuevos. Los instal茅 con la esperanza de que el asunto terminara ah铆, pero la realidad me dio un golpe de agua fr铆a: el arreglo solo dur贸 un d铆a. A la ma帽ana siguiente, el agua segu铆a saliendo por la regadera. Me di cuenta de que, aunque le pusieran tefl贸n hasta el cansancio, el problema persist铆a. Lo peor era que el bote de agua no solo afectaba el ba帽o, sino que se filtraba hacia la cocina, creando un caos en dos 谩reas vitales de mi casa.

I'm talking about a problem in my home that was robbing me of my peace of mind in an incredible way. You have no idea how much of a headache it gave me; I felt overwhelmed, exhausted, and, honestly, the work was getting the better of me.
It all started with a leak that seemed harmless. About five years ago, I had a similar situation, and at that time, I managed to fix it by changing the shower knobs. It was a miracle cure, and the problem stopped immediately. So this time, I thought it would be just as easy, but I was very wrong. This time, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't find a solution, and what started as a minor annoyance ended up being a complete waste of time and money.
The first thing I did, relying on my previous experience, was to go out and buy new knobs. I installed them, hoping that would be the end of it, but reality hit me like a bucket of cold water: the fix only lasted a day. The next morning, water was still leaking from the showerhead. I realized that even if I applied Teflon over and over again, the problem persisted. The worst part was that the water leak not only affected the bathroom, but also seeped into the kitchen, creating chaos in two vital areas of my home.
En medio de mi desesperaci贸n, una amiga me cont贸 que a ella le hab铆a pasado algo id茅ntico y que lo solucion贸 colocando una llave de paso directamente al tubo de la regadera. Me pareci贸 una idea l贸gica para cortar el flujo constante. Fui, compr茅 mi llave de paso, me la instalaron y, por unas semanas, sent铆 que por fin respiraba. Sin embargo, el destino ten铆a otros planes. Un d铆a, intentando cerrar el paso del agua, el tubo de la regadera se parti贸 por completo dentro de la pared. Fue, sin exagerar, el desastre del a帽o.
Ese momento fue de un estr茅s total. Imag铆nense el panorama: el tubo roto dentro de la pared, la humedad avanzando y, para rematar, otros problemas en casa como los inodoros tapados. Sent铆a que todo se me ven铆a encima.
Entend铆 que ya no pod铆a seguir con "pa帽itos calientes". Me prepar茅 econ贸micamente, busqu茅 a un alba帽il de confianza y le plante茅 mi inquietud. Mi sistema original era de dos puntos (agua fr铆a y caliente), pero como ya hab铆amos anulado el agua caliente hace tiempo, le pregunt茅 si era posible eliminar eso y colocar un sistema simplificado de una sola toma. El alba帽il me confirm贸 que s铆, que era lo m谩s sano para evitar futuras filtraciones en tuber铆as que ni siquiera us谩bamos.
In the midst of my despair, a friend told me that she had experienced something identical and that she had solved it by installing a shut-off valve directly on the shower pipe. It seemed like a logical idea to me to cut off the constant flow. I went out, bought my shut-off valve, had it installed, and for a few weeks, I felt like I could finally breathe. However, fate had other plans. One day, while trying to turn off the water, the shower pipe broke completely inside the wall. It was, without exaggeration, the disaster of the year.
That moment was totally stressful. Imagine the scene: the broken pipe inside the wall, the moisture spreading, and to top it off, other problems at home like clogged toilets. I felt like everything was falling apart.
I realized I couldn't keep putting off the problem. I got my finances in order, found a reliable contractor, and explained my concerns. My original system had two points (hot and cold water), but since we had already turned off the hot water a long time ago, I asked if it was possible to remove that and install a simplified single-tap system. The builder confirmed that it was, and that it was the best way to prevent future leaks in pipes that we didn't even use.
As铆 que tom茅 la decisi贸n: compr茅 todo el material nuevo. Ver c贸mo romp铆an la pared y la cer谩mica fue impresionante, pero necesario. El alba帽il cambi贸 todo el sistema, dej贸 la instalaci贸n secando un d铆a entero por precauci贸n y, al d铆a siguiente, hicimos la prueba de fuego. 隆No hab铆a ni una sola gota fuera de su lugar! Tras comprobar que todo estaba bien, procedi贸 a tapar con cemento.
Aunque en el proceso se rompieron dos cer谩micas del ba帽o, las sellamos con cemento por ahora. Mi plan es buscar m谩s adelante alg煤n accesorio decorativo que combine con la regadera para cubrir esa zona y que se vea est茅tico. Por lo pronto, lo m谩s importante es que el bote de agua finalmente par贸. Ya no hay filtraciones, ya no hay humedad en la pared de la cocina y siento una paz tremenda. Aunque todav铆a quedan detalles por arreglar en casa, saber que el tema de la regadera est谩 resuelto me quita un peso de encima. De momento tengo la regadera vieja instalada, pero ya tengo la mira puesta en una m谩s bonita y de mejor calidad que comprar茅 pronto, con la ayuda de Dios.
So I made the decision: I bought all the new materials. Watching them break down the wall and tiles was impressive, but necessary. The builder changed the entire system, left the installation to dry for a whole day as a precaution, and the next day, we put it to the test. Not a single drop was out of place! After checking that everything was fine, he proceeded to cover it with cement.
Although two tiles in the bathroom were broken in the process, we sealed them with cement for now. My plan is to look for some decorative accessories that match the shower head to cover that area and make it look nice. For now, the most important thing is that the water leak has finally stopped. There are no more leaks, no more moisture on the kitchen wall, and I feel tremendous peace. Although there are still details to fix in the house, knowing that the shower issue is resolved takes a weight off my shoulders. For now, I have the old shower installed, but I already have my eye on a nicer, higher-quality one that I will buy soon, with God's help.
