@gretelarmfegThe moment we strode down from the elegant Bridge of Peace I felt like the day was going to be special. We went right away to the old town area. The ambiance changed. Everything felt slower and filled with stories waiting to be uncovered. One of the first things that caught our attention was a decorated bus. It was covered in vivid murals and personality. To our glee, it had been transformed into a caf茅 bar. It was one of those unexpected finds that quickly adds happiness to a tour.

@godfishHow does it feel to live in a country everyone calls by the wrong name? How does it shape the nation鈥檚 psyche? Is Albania Alba, white in Latin? Some of the rocks indeed are. A land of dawn, as the name could be interpreted in medieval Latin and its descendant languages? Not likely; its coast faces west, making sunsets particularly appealing. But for dawns, Apollo, that poor old fellow, needs to crawl over mountains that allegedly named the land centuries before the eagle people appeared at their feet. Yes! Surprisingly enough, Albania may be a sister to the Alps when it comes to names. Same root, a completely different tree growing out of it, though. Fortunately, linguistics is no botany.

This trip from Havana to Vi帽ales by bike was one I simply had to take. The initial plan was to go with company鈥攐r at least with my colleague Dayner Mu帽oz, another cycling enthusiast.
But, as often happens, I ended up going alone.
