Why I Think Everyone Should Travel at Least Once

There is something special about travelling.

It is not just about getting on a plane, arriving in another country, taking pictures and coming back home. For me, travelling is about experiencing something different from what you are used to.

Every place has its own atmosphere.

The people speak differently. The food tastes different. The roads look different. Even simple things like going to a supermarket or walking around a neighbourhood can feel like an experience when you are somewhere new.

One of the things I enjoy most about travelling is seeing how big the world actually is.

Sometimes we become so comfortable with our normal routines that we forget there is an entire world outside them. We wake up, go to work or school, come home, spend time online and repeat the same process.

Then you travel somewhere new and suddenly realise there are millions of people living completely different lives.

I have been fortunate enough to visit places outside Nigeria, including England, Dubai and Ghana. Each trip gave me something different to remember.

England, in particular, stands out to me. There was something about being there that made me want to explore even more. Seeing new places in person feels completely different from seeing them through pictures or videos online.

Dubai was another interesting experience. The environment, buildings, roads and overall atmosphere felt very different from what I was used to. It reminded me of how much creativity and planning can transform a place.

Ghana also gave me a different experience. Even though it is relatively close to Nigeria, travelling there still made me appreciate the differences between countries and cultures.

One thing travel has taught me is that you should not always plan every second of a trip.

Of course, having a plan is important. You need to know where you are staying, how you are getting around and what places you want to visit.

But some of the best moments can happen when you simply explore.

You might discover a restaurant you did not know about.

You might walk into a shop that catches your attention.

You might meet someone interesting.

Or you might simply find a beautiful place that was never on your original itinerary.

Those unexpected moments can become some of your favourite memories.

Travel also changes the way you look at home.

When you leave your normal environment for a while, you sometimes notice things about home that you never paid attention to before. You start comparing transportation, food, architecture, lifestyle and even the way people interact.

It does not necessarily mean one place is better than another.

It simply reminds you that there are many different ways to live.

Another reason I enjoy travelling is the food.

Every country has its own flavours and specialties, and trying local food is one of the easiest ways to experience a culture.

Sometimes you discover something you absolutely love.

Other times you try something once and decide that you will never order it again. 😂

Either way, it becomes part of the experience.

I also think travelling teaches you independence.

Even when you travel with family or friends, being in an unfamiliar environment forces you to pay attention. You have to understand your surroundings, manage your time and sometimes figure things out as you go.

It can be uncomfortable at first, but that is also part of the adventure.

If I could travel anywhere right now, I honestly would not want to choose just one place.

There are so many countries I would like to see.

I want to experience more of Europe, explore different parts of Africa, visit countries in Asia and eventually see places that I have only ever seen in photographs.

The world is simply too big to stay in one place forever.

For me, the best part of travelling is not necessarily the destination itself.

It is the memories you bring back.

Years later, you might forget the exact name of a street or restaurant, but you will remember how you felt when you were there.

You will remember the people you travelled with.

You will remember the funny moments.

You will remember getting lost or taking the wrong turn.

You will remember the food you tried.

And you will probably remember the moments when you looked around and thought, “I can’t believe I’m actually here.”

That is why I want to keep travelling.

There are still so many places I have never seen and so many experiences waiting somewhere in the world.

Hopefully, there will be many more trips, many more countries and many more stories to tell.

Until then, I will keep dreaming about the next destination.

If you could wake up tomorrow anywhere in the world, where would you choose? 🌍
