Hello to all this beautiful community of Emotions & Feelings 💙! 😙
Today I come to talk to you about the emotions I've been experiencing during this week.
How many times have we heard someone tell us: "you have to let go, turn the page", "you're overreacting". It's easy to say, but it's not... and in most cases those who tell you this have not been through it. They have no idea what they are talking about, evidencing their complete lack of empathy, especially, when there are traumas and strong situations involved that do not heal so quickly, "it's not blowing and making bottles".
Of course, when you embrace the problem and do not want to get out of it, we would be dealing with someone who does not want to "turn the page". For example, that person who lives in the complaint contaminating others, who relives the problem every day, who is bitter and knows it, and still refuses to seek help. This is really staying stuck in the past.
On the other hand, if the person is in therapy, it is not that he is not over it... he is in the middle of the process and that is not easy. In addition, psychological work has many ups and downs, it does not go in a straight line as we would like; sometimes we can feel that we are going backwards because we wake up with an impressive emotional low.
And at other times we get the impression that we are over it because it has stopped "hurting". But... surprise! One day you come across something that triggers you, that reminds you of that event, be it a person, something you read or heard about, and you return to the torment in the blink of an eye. You are transported in time, you travel to the past.
Then comes the great disappointment and the thousands of unanswered questions: wasn't I over it, why did this situation/person come to my mind if so much time has passed, why does it hurt as if it just happened, does therapy not work, will I never get over it, will I never get over it?
The truth is that I don't have the answers to all these questions, I guess it is part of letting go, I just know that in these moments of emotional low one feels as if the time invested in healing has not worked at all. Why the setback? Maybe I need to talk more about the situation, break down the elements more and see what I'm missing.
What I am sure of from my own experience is that those of us who have been through many obstacles in life tend to be more resilient and better able to handle the chaos. Those who have not yet gone through the darkness, go crazy if it happens, they do not yet have the experience to handle it.
Let's say that, within the strange balance of the universe, those of us who have been immersed in the broth are the ones who end up helping others the most. And those who live in their bubble, understand us only when the same thing happens to them as happens to us. Then they reflect and stop judging so much.
And they should not reach that point, what happens is that people lack more kindness and not "malice" as many say. More empathy or practicing prudent silence so as not to hurt.
It is frustrating to feel that more time is needed to overcome certain situations and let go of the past; it gets complicated at the beginning, we all want to heal fast and look forward. I am still working on that, I have accomplished a lot, I am not the same person I was before and that reassures me. It's just that these moments when I seem to be going backwards stress me out a bit.
It's the fear of going back to the way I was before.
If you who are reading me feel identified, give yourself a pat on the shoulder for all that you know you have gone through.
Greetings to all! 😘
