I never dreamed of having a tattoo nor did this art form call my attention. I could suddenly admire a tattoo I saw on someone else, but doing it on my body felt foreign to me.
A few years ago I met a person who was my partner for almost 4 years, I remember seeing her from afar in the place where we worked and one of the things that caught my attention was a tattoo she had on one of her wrists, a beautiful bouquet, I think they were daisies, I do not remember that. To my taste that, made her attractive, among other things. At the time I thought that a person with flowers tattooed on his body might have an unusual kind of sensitivity.
This girl was really special in my life and she is a wonderful person, that had nothing to do with her tattoo. Then I found out that for her it had no meaning whatsoever, just one day she was provoked to do it and went to a place dedicated to this purpose, she browsed through the catalog and chose a design to her liking, but I don't blame her, at that time she was only 19 years old.
At the end of that relationship, I spent some time trying to find myself again, I think I lost myself to some extent in that person, in our relationship and I forgot a little bit about myself as a person. I started to exercise, I lost some weight that I gained from so many trips to the movies to eat popcorn, chocolates, and junk food and I also started to take more care of my appearance, I know I shouldn't have neglected myself because I had a relationship but I did.
I started to notice that some people looked more attractive and interesting with certain tattoos, that's where my desire to have one started, I just wanted to look more attractive and interesting. Besides, the breakup of that relationship was quite recent and I wanted to do things I had never done before, I had that feeling with me maybe so that new sensations would replace sensations I no longer wanted.
So I decided to get a tattoo, something that was clear to me was that it had to be a rose, for many it will be something very trite but for me it is quite special, it has always been my favorite flower and after having read, many years ago, that the rose represents the path of our life, the thorns symbolize the obstacles we encounter and the sorrows we suffer, but that it is worth it to go through to somehow get to the blossoming, I read this many years ago in the book "The Instant Millionaire", written by Mark Fisher, after seeing a rose that way, it became even more meaningful to me.
I started searching for rose designs on Google, I wanted it in red because they say it symbolizes passionate love and I am very intense in that sense. Besides I imagined that with a black sleeveless shirt the tattoo would stand out immediately and would be a hook to attract beautiful girls interested in me, something quite ironic because I rarely, if not never, wear sleeveless shirt to leave the house, I always have my back completely covered with flannels, jackets or shirts.
Finally, I have never used the tattoo for this purpose and if I had I don't think it would have worked either, now it makes me laugh to remember my reasons for getting a tattoo.
I chose the back area so that it would be discreet and in case I regretted it over time it would be easy to cover it. I've had it for about 8 years, the truth is I don't know exactly how long, but it's something like that, so far I don't regret having it done at all, I still see it beautiful and I love to have it and the rose still has the same meaning for me. I didn't want it to have thorns because they symbolize obstacles and sorrows, although for others it can mean a defense mechanism.
I was told that after getting the first one done it was almost inevitable to go for more, it hasn't happened to me, I haven't felt any desire to get tattooed again, although I don't rule it out. Maybe at some point, I will have a hummingbird drawn near the rose, it's possible but it's not something that keeps me awake at night.
My rose has dewdrops, the design I saw had them and it seemed timely as at the time I was reading about a Hawaiian technique called Hoponopono which consists of repeating as a mantra the following: Thank you, I'm sorry, Forgive me, I love you. I will not go deeper into this technique as that is another matter, but it is believed that repeating these words in our daily lives cleanses our mind and our being from unwanted thoughts and events or helps us to cope with them when they arise.
This technique also recommends other phrases such as "Key of Light" "Autumn Leaves" "Emerald Green" "Spring Flowers" and "Dewdrops", among many others.
According to this website repeating "Dewdrops", as a daily mantra, helps to transmute past situations, memories of pain that create unpleasant situations in life and help to transcend.
Coincidentally, those times were very frequent in my mind the phrase "Dewdrops", so a red rose with dew drops was perfect, when I saw the design I identified with it and started looking for my tattoo artist, I found him and he did the work that I share in the pictures, I asked for it smaller because I wanted it as discreet as possible and the guy told me that he could not make it so small because details would be lost, I took his suggestion and I was happy with the result, I still am.
It has not helped me to be more attractive to girls, now I think it is better to contemplate that rose in the most intimate moments.
