Thrash (2026) is a survival horror and disaster thriller, a movie directed by Tommy Wirkola, Thrash is a movie that combines hurricane and hungry sharks as its source of cinematic terror, a hurricane and shark invasion in a small coastal town which caused great harm to the town and the people in it. The movie Thrash stars Phoebe Dynevor, Whitney Peak and Djimon Hounsou and this movie delivers destruction, survival, bloody encounter and flooding in ways that will keep the viewer interested in watching.
The story takes place Annieville, South Carolina, a hurricane, a category 5 hurricane approaches the town with a heavy storm and rising flood waters. And this became more dangerous when sharks made their way to the streets, and it wasn't just a disaster but also a fight for survival. Lisa, a pregnant woman who's almost due to give birth was caught in this flood, and she must find a way to survive the storm, the shark and the destruction. This role was played by Phoebe Dynevor.
The cinematic terror was one of the movie's greatest strengths, the movie uses sharks and floods, two dangerous things, the terrifying moments sharks swim in the street, the dangerous situations in this movie made it more entertaining to watch, a realistic disaster drama. The movie created terror, every room or way of escape became a trap and danger, it is really difficult to escape the danger because every route seems scary.
The performance of the cast in this movie is really solid, they all did well in their roles. Phoebe Dynevor who plays the role of Lisa, gives her character so much emotional vulnerability, Whitney Peak brings personality to Dakota fully, while Djimon Hounsou provides some welcome experience and authority as a character connected to the shark threat.
However, Thrash struggled with character development, tone and suspense , the movie feels really unintentional in most scenes. The film wasn't really tense to me like many other horrific survival thrills I have watched, but regardless, it wasn't so bad, because the storyline was quite unique.
The combination of shark and hurricane survival also poses more danger and builds a more sense of fear for the viewers. Watching the water rise and sharks going after their victims was really interesting to watch.
In the movie Thrash there are many ridiculous situations, regardless of its flaws, the bloody moments and survival sequences made the movie quite interesting and kept things moving, it's a good movie.
Ultimately, I will say the movie Thrash, wasn't a perfect masterpiece but still entertained its viewers, it was indeed an entertaining shark and hurricane disaster movie. A movie with free, entertaining scenes and effective flooding scenes, regardless of the shortcomings of underdeveloped characters, and the action wasn't so perfect as a horror movie . It was more like a normal movie, it wasn't horrific enough for me.
I will be rating the movie Thrash (2026) 70/ 100.
