I totally disagree with the idea of making community service a compulsory requirement for school students before they are able to graduate, inasmuch as it teaches them to be considerate, selfless and responsible, I don't believe it should be a requirement for their graduation, considering how exhausting school can be, withholding their certificate after much effort to succeed academically because they didn't partake in community service is a wrong approach, there should be a lighter consequence that doesn't involve their forfeiting of their graduation or withholding their certificate.

Education on its own is very tasking, full of stress and many requirements, and these students have many other circumstances surrounding them apart from schooling, they could be coming from a struggling home and having financial issues, their family challenges and some personal struggles and all this could make them skip community service, so making community service a compulsory activity in school will only cause pressure and affect their personal schedules and even cause extra burden for students struggling to meet their academic requirements.

I don't think making community service compulsory is a good way to teach selflessness , there are many ways to teach selflessness to students, using the approach of threat of losing their graduation only makes students compelled to participate under a threat and that makes the entire purpose questionable . The students will only do it to prevent consequences and not because they learned selflessness or the importance of helping others.
Students shouldn't be compelled to participate in community service because of a threat, it only changes the purpose they participate and doesn't inculcate any reasonable lessons or knowledge.

The primary purpose of school is to educate children, community service should be an optional course and not compulsory, community service shouldn't be a condition for academic progression, these students already have different important courses, practicals and activities taking their attention and time, adding community service as a compulsory activity will only add to their existing burden and make educational process more demanding for students.

I'm not against community service, but it should be a voluntary service in schools, it shouldn't be compulsory for students. No doubt it has its own benefit to our society and the students, but it shouldn't be compulsory for students, it should be a voluntary group, where kinds interested apply willingly and not forcefully.

The schools can simply organize a voluntary environmental sanitation exercise amongst students who are willing to partake, also those who want to visit orphanage homes, run a charity program, or create awareness campaigns and other initiatives that expose students to the importance of giving back to the society, without force or fear of punishment.

Parents and teachers can teach them to think about selflessness, empathy, and many other values, and also make them understand the reason behind it, and this can be achieved without forcing it on them.

In conclusion, I believe that instead of making community service compulsory, we should be more concerned about raising compassionate and smart children and not creating a system that forces students to appear / pretend to be selfless, just to avoid being punished.
