Carrie (2026)is a story that reminds us of how cruel most humans can be, especially to people who are different or have different personalities from them , it's a horrific drama that explores bullying, rejection, emotional and mental abuse, religious extremism and the very dangerous consequences of pushing a person to and beyond their limits. It shows how hideous a person can be when cruelty becomes a normal part of their daily life.
Carrie (2026) is an eight episode horror movie, based on a novel written by Stephen King. The story follows young and naive Carrie White, she has been socially isolated for 15years, but following the death of her dad, Carrie and her mom had to experience life outside, and this was especially new for Carrie White, the excitement of making friends and living a normal teenage life seems new and exciting to her, but what seems to be a new journey for her, ended up becoming a painful journey filled with humiliation, rejection and bullying amongst other teenagers. Also, as Carrie began to find ways to fit in to her reality, she began to notice she had extraordinary telekinetic abilities.
Carrie didn't just experience bullying in school, but also on social media, she really tried to be good, Carrie tried not to use her extraordinary abilities to hurt anyone so badly, but those bullying Carrie refused to quit, they used the media to humiliate, embarrass and destroy the confidence of young Carrie White, her most embarrassing moments, became their most exciting moments, without considering the emotional damage they were causing her. Watching this movie, at some point I was angry that Carrie didn't fight from the beginning, but little did I know that the moment I was waiting for was at the end, the movie gave me a satisfying end though.
Summer H. Howell as Carrie performs really great in this movie, she portrays her character excellently, from the innocence in her appearance, to how vulnerable she was in the midst of wolves, the confusion and frustration she faced. Watching her, I understood her emotional struggle and control each time she gets hurt. Also, Carrie's mom, Samantha Sloyan, known as Margaret performed really well, her controlling side, religious role and complications, her character shows how dangerous it's to be extremely religious, and it affects how she relates with her daughter Carrie, because she misguided Carrie till the end, I hated her character so much.
Every supporting character in this movie did a great job performing, their different attitudes towards Carrie had an impact on the movie, from hate, kindness to empathy. While some characters represented only cruelty, like Chris Hargensen, a character played by Alison Thornton, she made everything horrible and unbearable for Carrie, she gave her best performance and that even made me dislike her. This movie carries viewers all along till the end.
The supernatural and horrific moments in this movie didn't frighten me and I found them normal. This movie also raises important issues that need to be addressed, it raises concern about bullying, parental responsibility, empathy and the consequences of mistreating vulnerable and naive people.
Carrie (2026) is an interesting horror movie that didn't just entertain viewers, but also passes important and didactic messages. Carrie (2026)is one of the best movies that I have watched recently , it's definitely worth watching and I would recommend it to others too.
I will be rating Carrie (2026) a 90/100 , the movie is really worth watching.
