Codfish au Gratin (Easter Lunch)

# Portuguese version after the pics Hello Hivers! At my first post in the food community I wanted to share with you our Easter lunch. The first lunch "alone" as immigrants in Canada, and my first time cooking this dish that is traditional in our family: Princess Codfish. My grandmother's recipe, passed on to my mother and this year I debuted it in my kitchen! Let's go to the recipe: 600 g of desalted and lightly shredded cod 3 big potatoes cut into cubes (can be boiled or fried) 1 medium onion, grated 3 tablespoons olive oil Oregano Sauce 500 ml milk 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons of flour 1 cup cream cheese Salt and nutmeg as taste

Preparation:
Sauce: this is the same béchamel traditional sauce: Melt the butter, mix the flour until it forms a paste. Add the milk little by little and mix until dissolved (add more milk if necessary). Add the salt, nutmeg, and the cream cheese. Turn off and set aside.
(In this case, I ended up using a ready-made sauce)

Codfish: Fry the onion in olive oil, mix the codfish and oregano. Sauté well and adjust the salt.

Mix the sauce in the codfish.
Assembly: In a baking dish, grease with olive oil, place the potatoes covering the entire bottom and spread the cod over the potatoes.
Put cheese and bake in a medium oven for au gratin.

I used cream cheese and parmesan to gratin

Served it with white rice and salad. And a great red wine too 🍷

It was so divine that I forgot to take the picture of the wine before ending the bottle 🙃

And for dessert: chocolate cake!

Hope you enjoy tasting it!

Molho:
500 ml de leite
2 colheres de sopa de manteiga
2 colheres de sopa de farinha de trigo
1 copo de requeijão
Sal e noz moscada a gosto

Preparo:
Adicione o sal, noz moscada e o requeijão. Desligue e reserve
(Neste caso, eu acabei usando um molho pronto)

Bacalhau: frite a cebola no azeite, misture o bacalhau e orégano. Refogue bem e acerte o sal.
Misture o molho no bacalhau.
Eu usei cream cheese e parmesão ralado.
